Other Games / Object in Space --- 2D Elite meets Silent Hunter
« on: June 30, 2018, 12:29:11 am »
I'm surprised I have not seen a post about that game, I don't have a dog in that race, I just feel like it's something you guys would apreciate.

Be forewarened though, it is supremely buggy. Times 10.

From the website:
Quote
Objects in Space is a modempunk stealth space-trading game (...) You are a lonesome ship’s captain, buying and selling wares in order to keep your bucket of bolts afloat and stay one step ahead of pirates, organised criminals, corrupt governments and shady laws.

Combat in Objects in Space sees ships treated more like submarines than dogfighters. You’ll be running silent, planning manoeuvres far ahead of time and engaging in deadly games of cat-and-mouse with nebulous enemies.

You will command your one-person ship from the captain’s chair. Encounters happen far outside visual range, so rather than close-quarters space shoot-em-ups, you’ll be poring over magnetic, gravimetric and radiation scanning arrays trying to locate tiny boxes of metal sometimes flying at millions of miles per hour massive distances away hoping against hope to get a missile lock.

I'm not fond of early acces and that's why I held on fanfaring about this sooner but now that it got a Steam release I feel like it's a good time to come out with it. It looks to me like a niche passion project that hopefully will see fruition, eventually. It does crash all the time though, but if you can live with that you'll be rewarded with cool gameplay and atmosphere.

There is even a manual on how to build an Arduino powered game controler for it, simulator style, and that is super cool to me.

Anyway, don't take my word for it and just look up these links;

Here is a cool video where Scott Manley plays a bit with the "simulator" set up

RPS have been following them for a while now:

Other Games / Invisible Inc (and giveaway)
« on: March 14, 2014, 09:54:01 am »
So while everybody is waiting for Satellite Reign (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/03/14/syndicate-remake-video/) I stumbled on Invisible Inc which seems quite interesting, though I can't really tell much about it at this point because it's still downloading.

It seems to be a tactical, techno-espionage-type, isometric, turn-based stealth game.

Have a look at http://www.invisibleincgame.com/

Now, the clever devs gives you two copies of their game when your purchase the Alpha so guess what I am going to do with my 2nd copy;

Rules:
- No escaped lunatics, No account newer that this post;

- Winner will chosen randomly and will be contacted through this forums PM and will be given a steam key.

If you bought the game and wish to give your second copy away feel free to reuse this post and change the rules, please just wait until my giveaway is over.

I know I'll be getting some comments about how inadmissible it is for me to bring this game to your attention so let me go with a quick liminary declaration:

I hereby most solemnly promise and swear that I am in no way affiliated in any shape or form with the game nor anyone involved with it;
And that I am not a bot (I am certified 80%+ Human)

This being said, I can't believe that a game being described as 'part single player Space Station 13 and part sci-fi Dwarf Fortress' by RPS passed below everyone's radar.

It is yet another Kickstarter campaign and they are going for the dreadfully hipsterish retro futurism (hopefully when they get an artist it's going to change for the better) but it's a sci-fi sandbox base-building with z-levels and RPG elements and all. Maybe it's just trying to tick all the boxes and I'm not fully sure how this one is going to turn out but I wanted to hear you guys opinion.
