DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Powerleveling via Small Animals

I started to play adventure mode again in 40d...whatever, while waiting for the new lazy newb pack, when i suddenly got the urge about power leveling my armor, dodge and shield skill via small animals.... to bad they run away and hacking their legs off won't solve the problem 
, but how about holding them with my hands? And bingo i get attacked but they miss mostly but it still counts to the armor dodge(event tough i never move) fighter skill, funny thing, i even powerleveled observer with this 
. I often use 2-4 ravens or keas in my current world for this tactic.
I don't know if this was already posted, i tried to search but it looks like the search function dislikes me.
