Welcome to WoodenStockade!
It's the fifteenth of granite. Months ago, the ruler of The Hatchet of Maws (whose name has slipped your mind) has sent you on a "simple" mission. "Construct an outpost", he (or was it she?) said. "One where all willing expedition leaders would go to hone their skills, where they would rule the outpost for a year, or die trying."
"Death sentence, more like." you thought.
Welcome to Woodenstockade.

The theme of this succession game is that all players must have NO KNOWLEDGE of a certain system of Dwarf Fortress (Example: Not knowing how to farm) OR have never done a certain objective (Example: Never killed a megabeast). This rule will be dropped after the 5th year ends, and this game will be played in v42.06.

DF Community Games & Stories / Interest check: Noob Fortress
« on: April 28, 2016, 12:22:28 pm »
The post for the game can be found here!!!
I recently had an idea for a succession game where the biggest rule of the fortress is that all players have to not know how to do something or have never done a certain thing in the game.

An example of this would be Urist McPlayer1 does not know how to build a well, while Urist McPlayer2 has never reached the circus.

Would anyone here be interested in this? If I get enough support for this idea, I will create the game.
And for the record, I have no clue how screw pumps or minecarts work. This is what gave me the inspiration for this idea.

DF Gameplay Questions / Do dwarves trigger your own traps?
« on: April 26, 2016, 01:54:20 pm »
I've been setting up a hallway of ten weapon traps with two giant steel serrated discs in each one, but before i destroy my non-trapped entrance i want to know if dwarves trigger my own traps.

DF Gameplay Questions / Is this normal?
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:24:30 pm »
I was minding my own buisness when i just got my first siege, so i forbid all my entrances and looked at my invader count:

https://gyazo.com/9ea9de127f5758d1e0ba961a253a794d

is it normal to be sieged by only two goblins? my current created wealth is 165k and i have 47 dwarves.

Edit: 30 minutes have passed IRL and no other goblins have been found, and these two archers have been sitting on the border of my playing area. If any of the squads were in stealth, i would have seen them by now with the one fisherdwarf stuck outside.

Because my only carpenter's workshop is being taken up by a dwarf in a fey mood, I decided to look at my stocks on food and booze manually, when i noticed this:

https://gyazo.com/c1593e13dede227826eace68007288f0

My cannon fodder military dwarves are coming in and removing clothing, and then they just leave it in the food stockpile.

why is this happening?

Edit: My moody dwarf finished, and now I have a wooden door that menaces with spikes of chicken leather, which is somehow listed twice. Any suggestions on where to put it?

Roll To Dodge / Roll to Become Canon Fodder.
« on: October 10, 2014, 02:01:46 pm »
Every round, i will randomly create a game.
everyone has to take actions to argue Canon.
and do other things to other people.
i expect madness.
standard d20.
using TVtropes is advised, and im only providing what the game is. you have to make everything else.

first round: action-adventure FPS.
it's called Bulletathon.
in it, you use guns to win a footrace around the globe.
the player plays as Gilly Boatjogger, a plate farmer.

Roll To Dodge / Roll to Destroy the Godmodder
« on: September 23, 2014, 10:06:58 am »
the godmodder came to the bay12forums.
to make things worse, he's mischiefing in the roll to dodge section.
kill him with roll to dodge.
(this is destroy the godmodder, but with RTD rules.)
because the godmodder is the godmodder, his rolls get +3.
ROLL RESULTS: (as TVtropes says it)
[1]-Epic Fail. The action was not performed, and backfired horribly.
[2]-Fail. Nothing happened.
[3]-Partial Success. The exact degree of success is established by the GM.
[4]-Success. The action was carried out adequately.
[5]-Epic Success. The action succeeded in the most positive way possible.
[6]-Overshot. Though the result was achieved, the action backfires horribly due to disproportionately large effort.

godmodder health: 100/100

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Destroy the Tower (Round 1)
« on: September 22, 2014, 01:47:42 pm »
In this you will be trying to destroy a tower for no reason.
The tower has an indestructable Anti OP forcefield.
example:
(BOB123) i hire chuck norris to roundhouse the tower!
(me) the kick deflects off of the Anti OP forcefield. one damage to the tower.

pretty much anything that would be an instakill or a ton of damage is nerfed.
you dont have to just try to kill the tower.
you can defend it too.
the more the tower is killed, the tougher it gets.
THIS IS MEANT FOR HILARITY. EXPECT VERY HILARIOUS OUTCOMES.

TOWER HP: 10,000/10,000

TOWER ACTION: the tower suddenly appears in the middle of a field! People have the sudden reaction to destroy it.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / FailForts: !!FUN!! too early
« on: September 22, 2014, 01:17:57 pm »
this was created with the intention of talking about fortresses that died because of !!FUN!! that happened too early.
it will become talking about something entirely else, because this is the bay12 forums. anyways...

in a succession game i tried to start, found here
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=143985.0
i was attacked by a wereracoon on the first year, the month of timber. i had hardly anything to protect myself, so the wereracoon killed 6 dwarves and ran off (as an elf, no less!) which ended in tantrums after moar transformations from those that were bitten.

who else had a hilarious fortress death that was too early?
