DF Modding / Syndrome questions
« on: June 18, 2019, 09:15:02 pm »
Question 1:
I'm messing with CE_FLASH_TILE syndrome affect and I can get the infected creature to flash between the desired tile. I can make it so the default tile is displayed for 2000 ticks and display the syndrome for 500 ticks, or display both for 2000 ticks, but I cannot display the syndrome tile for a longer period of time than the default tile. Is that just the limitation of it or is there a way of doing what I want?

Question 2:
I'm using a tile-set (Phoebus), how would I go about finding the tile-id for, say, the tile used by cows? The raws for cow say 'C', but using that in CE_FLASH_TILE gives me the letter, not the cow sprite.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Which animals SHOULD be war trainable?
« on: June 15, 2019, 10:06:57 am »
Bit of a subjective question, but Ive been pondering what the deciding factor should be when deciding whether an animal should be war trainable or not. Are there logical reasons why any one particular animal should not be capable of war training? A lot of the animals that do or do not have war training capability appear to be chosen arbitrarily to me, dwarffortresswiki.org/Ocelot for example.

I know I can just mod the raws to make everything war trainable but I am interested if there are patterns or thoughts on this that occur to anyone else on this matter.
What are your thoughts?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Random Discoveries
« on: May 27, 2015, 07:37:59 am »
After hours of !!SCIENCE!! I have learned a few things.

The controlling group of your starting site will promote you to a higher position, like a mayor, if there are no other candidates for the position. If you were promoted to a higher position in a site, your adventurer will return there if you retire; Interestingly, I've never been able to meet a retired adventurer without doing this. If your starting site's group controls a site, you will never gain control of it by claiming. I've also found out you can retain some of your running speed by taking softer turns (I.E. east, northeast, then north.)

Have you cracked any adventure mode mysteries lately?

Also, a small question; do any of you know if you can recruit soldiers from a retired player fort? Was considering making a fort for that purpose and was wondering if I am doomed to failure from the start.
