DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Building altars and different skills

So it seems that rock altars can be constructed both from the masons workshop and the craftsdwarfs workshop (seems like a bug) while only using the rock crafting skill. However for the wooden altar it only uses the carpenter skill and workshop. Now that i look at the other recent furniture (pedestals, book cases etc.) the same inconsistency exists. Carpenters make wooden pedestals while stone crafters not masons make rock pedestals. Can someone explain to me why the carpenter makes pedestals not the woodcrafter?

I've been compiling a list of my dwarves' believes and the civilization that these Gods belong to and it seems that the dwarves have an equal chance of believing in Gods of other civilizations as in yours. So basically that means that if you wanted a shrine to each God of your civilization, you first need to figure out your civilization's Gods.

I remember seeing the ASCII for the first time,
the purple, brown, yellow and all the other colors on the world map and not having an idea what shit was.
The magic of seeing the "O's" and the happy little faces and... Man. *dwarfy tear*.
It's amazing how now I just see everything in the ASCII.
I make things out of marble for my dwarves even though I as the player can't really see a difference between it and any other white stone.
It's unbelievable what DF does to your brain.

So I caught some wild animals into cages. I don't feel like taming them yet. Is there a way for me to throw all of them into one cage or just butcher them without training them?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Magma sea on level 90 (spoilers)

This is very unexpected. I discovered a magma pool in the first cavern layer on z 120 (aboveground is around 130) and it leads straight to the magma sea that seems to be right below the third cavern layer on z 90. Is there going to be stuff below the magma layer? I'm extremely sure there is no candy this high up, so it can't lead to HFS.

I've been doing some more adventuring recently, especially exploring a lot of underground structures, and I have to say, the procedurally generated one tile mazes in fortresses and dungeons lead to way more beautiful designs than an average player fortress and a big reason for that are indeed the one tile complicated hallways. So, I'm wondering. Can this aesthetic be efficiently be brought over to fortress mode? Can dwarves manage trafficking in 1 tile corridors and 1 tile stairways? Obviously the hallways do get wider in main areas, but more remote parts like bedrooms are accessed by 1 tile corridors.

I was really wondering if you could forgo designating a dining hall from a table and just only use a tavern designated from the (i) meeting zone. And then if I designated a dining hall and a separate tavern what will happen? I really enjoy giving different rooms their own anesthetics and it doesn't really fit for taverns to be huge halls filled with chairs and tables instead of being cozy little wooden buildings.

So, I think this is the first time this problem arised. I made sure the bins with crafts aren't being currently used (no "tsk" when viewed with "k"), but the finished good bins with older crafts don't show up at all in the "bring to depot" screen. Only totems.
Edit:
Fucking mayor. I think I know the reason. If figurines are banned from export every bin containing a figurine will be banned. Right? Fuck. Someone needs to pull a lever.

It's been really bugging me. I have my fort built on giant gold reserves and I'm planning on making all furniture out of gold. Now let's say I want to stud all of it with gold, encrust it with gems and decorate it with bones. What's the easiest way to set this up?

I'm pretty sure the numbers here aren't correct.
I just wanted to make sure I understand this correctly. Marble has a material value of 2, rock blocks have a value of 5 so a marble block floor would have a value of 10. So a 3x3 room (13 walls  9 floors) would be worth 22x10=220. Let's say we add a marble chair value=2x10(base value of chair)x quality multiplier. And now what if the walls were engraved and the chair was encrusted with marble spikes?

Is it just me or there are less vampires coming to your fort? A year ago, I'd have at least one vampire in a 100 dwarf fortress, but I haven't seen any in the newer version.

Is it just me or long gone are the days of goblins ruling the world? In all my recent worlds all the goblin civs that weren't isolated on an island were either losing to the elves or humans. What happened? It's hard finding a dark fortress with more than 200 creatures that isn't far away from any civilization.

What are your thoughts on playing around with migrant cap? It's definitely easier to manage if you only have ~60 dwarves, but at the same time it feels kind of like cheating.
