Does anyone know any other games that are deep in depth of fighting like DF adventure mode?

DF Suggestions / Just some ideas for adventure mode...

Is adventure mode going to allow you too like live like a citizen at a town in the future? Think about building your own house and making a farm, maybe even supporting a family from the riches you get from your adventures, or a job. Being able to go too a blacksmith and craft weapons or craft them yourself or soemthing. Just throwing out ideas

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / I've got a bad feeling about this...

How lovely it is when your hungry and thirsty and you find out your water is frozen, you climb down from your slumber tree and you see a bunch of 'fat' dingos hanging out below your crew. I climbed back up but while I was doing that I got latched by its jaws, just got bruises though. Should I risk waiting out for the night with frozen water and not really any eatable food? I've traveled a long way... it seemed.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Being a Newb at Adventure Mode
« on: March 18, 2016, 11:19:03 pm »
I see a fairly narrow river with two willow trees on each side, they would closely connect near the top so I had the chance to get across by climbing. I climb up branch by branch and there is a slight gap to the next tree...so I decided to take a leap of faith.... Didnt turn out so well. I failed the first time by trying to grab for branches while in flight. Hit the ground. I wasn't going to give up that easy, second shot? I climb one stage up being closer to the ground than before and take another leap of faith, this time I went to far over...and eventually fell in the river. The end.

DF General Discussion / Inspired.

I hope this post is not in the wrong place, I know its suppose to be a topic about Dwarf fortress, which it is. After playing this game I have become inspired. I have started to learn about programming more and having the urge to learn the C language. (Why i choose C language is because that's what Dwarf fortress was originally written with, right?) Anyways, I've read a bit of Tarn's bio and I like the fact that him and his brother wanted to create their dream game. I have played fantasy games with my brother when I was younger, allowing me to immerse myself a bit. Playing this game allows me to enjoy how complex you can make a game with little graphics.(Also allowing me to enjoy fantasy games) The old style of this game urged me to create a game of my own like this. I'm a sophomore in high school, having the itch to learn how to create games like this, the complexity is amazing. Thanks Tarn and Zach. Your creativity is appreciated, you have inspired me to get into programming and enjoy the old style games. Hopefully I will be able to a create a game so complex like this, and ASCII style looking, (which I actually like.) The fact that you can procedurally generate a whole world and NPC's and how deep in depth this game can go. Makes me think back on the days me and my brother would sit side by side on our dinner table with old laptops and play so many different games.
