Forum Games and Roleplaying / Multiverse Crash - IC: Lands Adrift

Lands Adrift

Some say that it's unlucky to disturb a lone cloud. Some say that if you fall, you'll end up at the top of the sky. Some say the Greywood changes when you're not looking. Some say the gods are dead, some say they've left, and some say they're alive, present, and judging your every move.

Welcome to the Lands Adrift, where no island will stay where you left it and the aetherships traverse the skies. Opportunities abound for those willing to pursue them - there's no shortage of frontier, both for colonization and commerce, and new inventions and spells are always ready to be conceived of and constructed. The gods are quiet, but not silent, and their favor can be earned if you know how to ask.
But not all is light and discovery. Monsters and raiders haunt the tradewinds in search of easy prey; fight them or join them, if you dare. For every ruin filled with riches, another is the grave of terrible secrets or the lair of a great danger. Where there is the incentive of gold and power, there are those who will discard all morals and reason in their search.

It is an age of discovery, an age of exploration. And you, shattered one, are in a prime position to take advantage of that. Choose your path and make your fortune; the horizon awaits.

The Multiverse Crash OOC thread is here, by the way. Character creation stuff is over there, for this setting and others. I suggest you make people for multiple settings; you'll be missing out if you don't.

Regarding mechanics, this will go roughly like an RTD, albeit using 2d6 rather than just one. Your character’s skills or weaknesses - from both their race and their profession - can change your rolls by 2, while universal bonuses and maluses do so by 1; the situation can also change how easy or hard the roll is.

Note that I have never GM’d before, so bear with me.

Roll To Dodge / Discord-Based Dwarf Fortress RTD
« on: May 25, 2018, 01:36:51 pm »
Hello all! You all know what DF is, or so I should hope. In this RTD, you'll be playing as normal dwarfs (well, as normal as a dwarf can be) in the fort of Rockhalls. This won't be an action-y RTD (most of the time, anyway; there's always sieges and the like), but rather a slice-of-life game (hypothetically).

Then again, you could go off and discover magic, create portals to alternate dimensions, and wage war against the Klingons. People have written weirder things for the succession forts and stories.

Right now, I'm acting on behalf of Ryukan, who's going to be the GM. The Discord that the game will be hosted on can be found here.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Marga Mage's Guild

We're the Mage's Guild. Mostly, what we do is prophesize stuff - which, in game terms, means we control the random events. Presumably we get some kind of karma balance - we can make good events, but they have to be balanced out eventually by bad ones; basically, good events cost karma, bad ones pay it. Let's also say that good karma gets lost over time, while bad karma doesn't, to get us to actually use the stuff. An example: if we have 20 karma, we might lose 2 of that each day. Meanwhile, if we have -20, that's going to stay right there until we use negative events to get rid of it. Additionally, let's put a lower limit on how far we can push negative karma - let's say to -25 for now, though it'll depend on how much karma it costs to do stuff - at which point we can no longer get positive events, and also must get rid of all the bad karma in one event rather than gradually, as would likely be less dangerous. Because we need stuff to be balanced.

Additionally, we're in charge of the weather. We may integrate this into the main "random events" system.

Also, stand by for me maybe making a Scientists' Guild and giving us some Arms Race stuff, maybe.
