It is time to take part in the greatest of galactic pastimes; screw with the primitives!

Specifically, the pink-skinned ones native to an Oxygen-Nitrogen planet known locally as "Earth", which, totally coincidentally, is the second most popular name for a species' home planet after "Home".

Anyway, you've got yourself a ship full of R&D, labs, and experiment bays. It's time for some abductions!

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Prismacolor [Map Game]
« on: October 28, 2018, 03:34:04 pm »
For eternity, the colors had been as one under the prism, unified into a brilliant pure white. Yet now the prism lies shattered, revealing the world as a hodgepodge of hues. Each of the colorful coalitions thought to themselves "If White had once ruled, surely there must be a successor color!". The only question left was which color it would be, and the decision would be one mulled over in pools of prismatic blood...

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Through the Eyes of a Map- Magic in 500 BCE
« on: October 16, 2017, 03:22:24 pm »
What if, on January 1st of the year 500 BC, people began to learn use magic, and build magical technology? It's up to the players. This is an alternate history game in which players edit a map of the ancient world, to show the progression of history, and accompany it with descriptive text, inventions, cultural developments, etc.

Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

How to Edit the Map
:
Just save or copy the map into MS Paint, or a similar program, zoom to your desired amount, and use the eyedropper, fill, and pencil tools to draw up new borders and fill them in the color of a nation.

Rules:
1. At least in the beginning, try to obey the facts of history. Not to the letter, but enough to have cultures be somewhat accurate.
2. Despite the wide use of magic being intended in this game, please don't go crazy with it at the start. No golem armies of Hannibal,a t least until it's gone on for some time.
3. Don't blatantly contradict the updates of others, and obey the posting order.
4. Add some cultural and scientific texture to the game, besides the bread and butter that is military action.
5. Each turn will last ten years. For example, the first turn will be from 500 BC to 490 BC.
6. The image map is required to post an update, even if there are no visible changes.

How to Play:
Post in the thread with a post marked  -Reserved-. You'll then have at most 12 hours to complete the update. If you don't complete the reserved spot by editing the post withing that time limit, the turn will go on to the next person in line for a turn. People can play as often or as little as you like, and anyone can have a turn.

Summary of the World
:
In Asia, the Chinese Zhou-dynasty states war with each other, theoretically controlled by an emperor, but acting like separate nations. In Vietnam, the predynastic Vietnamese thrive upon the Red River. In India, loosely-connected city-states trade amongst each other. The great city-states of Greece create great cultural works and philosophy, as well as being a military powerhouse. In Rome, a humble republic has arrived, yet to expand beyond their city, with the old Etruscans to the north and Greek colonies to the south, as well as other small latin cities. In North Africa, Carthage's oligarchy searches for new ways to make money off of the ancient world. The mighty Persian Empire Finally, in the Americas, cultures in the Yucatan and the Andes are trapped in the stone age, but the arrival of magics could change them. It could change the entire world.

Side Note: Black lines mark national borders, nations with white fill are cultural groups, and grey lines mark provincial boundaries.

You are a dot. Imagine that. Things appear to be in three dimensions, but are portrayed from your view as two dimensional, for simplicity. All around you is an empty white void. You feel the urge to do something. Furthermore, you feel as though your view is relatively poor, a limited resolution, perhaps. The world is very dotlike, you assume.

What do you do?

Welcome, everyone, to this edition of... something. Anyway, I'll be playing a game of Civilization 6, where you all control what you want me to do. I'll act autonomously, for the most part, but you decide what I do, and how I play. I'm not actually all that good at this game, so enjoy watching me defend against hordes of barbarians, while simultaneously attempting to make Ghandi avoid nuking me.

Warning, large images ahead.

Go ahead and choose the map size, map type, and most importantly... what Civ to play as.

Roll To Dodge / Piracy! (6/6) *Accepting Waitlisters*
« on: February 14, 2017, 05:04:03 pm »
You might have been a normal citizen of the Isles. You may have had a history of crime. You may have even been in the Navy. But one thing's certain; All of you have gotten a strange epiphany of being a Pirate. The Isles have had a long history of maritime activity, from the Pirate-Lords of old, to the mighty Navy. While many Pirates are, indeed, scum, several are shining examples of honor and Robin Hood-esque behavior. This... may or may not be what you're in it for. However, the Navy is, by and large, almost entirely corrupt, an undoubtedly cruel to the Islanders. Now, for one reason or another, you all meet in a tavern, drawn by rumors of cheap ships and goods. You sit at a large table in the corner of the Pike & Cod tavern, all suspecting the same thing- 'Hmm. These people might make a good crew!'.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Cave

You are a rock climber named Tim. You live in the city of [REDACTED], and just outside of town is Mount [REDACTED], a nice, sloping 2,000 meter peak. Seeing that mountain all your life fostered a love of rock climbing, all in the hope that you would reach the peak. Now, it isn't all too high for a mountain, there are plenty of taller ones, and going to the peak is a fairly popular activity. However, you weren't interested in the peak. The western face is very jagged and craggy, and the steep slope is dotted with caves. No, those caves were your goal. You had heard that the caves contain some incredible water formations, seen only by a few climbers who had gone without cameras. Now, after months of preparing, you cling to the edge of the mountain, right in front of a cave opening roughly halfway up. Wind shrieks up the mountain, bringing a chill with it, despite your warm clothing. This is it, time to explore!

Being the third son of some a merchant, you didn't have much going for you. Life was bland, dull, boring, and all other such words that you would probably know if you were the third son of someone cool, like a king or scholar. Even without excitement, you learned some numbers, and a few charismatic sales skills. So, boring boring boring, yadda yadda yadda- until some evil overlord from three towns over conquers the trading city you lived in. This had to be your time to shine! Thinking yourself the hero, you decided to defeat the overlord, and began your adventuring career by attempting to steal a sword from an evil guardsman. Lacking any sort of stealth or combat skills, you promptly failed. Along with thirty or so other wannabe heroes. For your crime, you were given a choice of three options. One, be executed. Two, manual labor in the worst possible conditions, for life. Three... become the Overlord's court jester. In seeking self preservation, you, of course, chose the third. Thus, you were handed a dumb looking suit, an equally dumb looking mask, and an order to come up with a funny nickname for yourself. Immediately, you were thrown into a cell on a strangely high-tech airship en route to the empire's capitol.

Well, how hard could it be?
