DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Human Merchants leave gifts?

I was running my fort when a human caravan showed up. They promptly visited my depot, dumped there cargo and ran for the hills. The only thing that I can think of causing this is an encounter one of the human archers had with a wild dingo. Does this sound right? Do human caravans run for the hills if even the smallest accident occurs?

I had just started a fort and I had a mace dwarf and in a hammer dwarf in my army.Suddenly 6 undead ravens came out of no were and attacked my dwarfs.I killed all 6, nut then 8 more replaced them!I suspect that one of my dwarfs is a necromancer since a couple can read.

Step 1. Surround your trade depot with cage traps. Step 2. Waite till spring arrives and those hippie merchants come. Step 3. Once those idiotic hippies are fully inside your trade depot, clear all your dwarfs from the area. Step 4. Pick a squad to attack the elves. Step 5. At least one of the elves should fall into the trap.KILL THE REST.

So I caught a elf (Only done this twice) and chained her to the wall.The whole time she was berserk from the time I caught her in the cage (which was conveniently wood) till she was chained to the wall.And till her death which suddenly happened a 2 months later.Why did my elf die?I loved watching her rage in her prison hold.Oh well next spring I'l get another, hey maybe i'l get lucky and catch 2!
