Journal of Obok Ushatzar, expedition leader

I have started this journal as a document of this fortress. I was approached in the mountainhome as I was chopping trees by a very short fellow, probably some sort of animal person though I never saw his face, as he had a mask. He had a mace and a spear at his side and smelled horrendous. It was like he wallowed in a pit of dead insects, then splashed himself in blood. His name, as he told me, was Raz Talezmez. Now I didn't trust this fellow until he gained my loyalty with a large amount of gold. He wanted me to do a job for him. I said "Sure, what's the job?" And he said he wanted me to found a fort for him. But, I said, i was but a woodcutter and have no idea how to. I quickly learned with another large batch of coins. He gave me two very strange and specific rules, which I shall list here.

1. All corpses must be saved. Animal, dwarf, goblin- all dead things must be kept. No coffins either; use slabs.
2. No blunt weapons.

When I asked why, he said he was doing scientific research in biology. I doubted this, but went along with it. I took 6 of my best friends and set of to a nice looking lake. I worry about the aquifer, but I read some books about it. Here is some info about our embark.

Here is the link to the first My Attempts:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=173253.msg7930100#msg7930100

My goal for this adventure is to kill as many megabeasts/semi-megabeasts/misc large monsters (Like giant animals) as possible. This is a little generic, but it'll be fun.
I'll be playing as Leosaltu Tamnuse (Dragonacts) a Jaguar man Pikeman. The world is called... is called... The Planet of Mouthfulls, Ashishagthothadar, The Wondrous Everseeing Planets.

Have have two questions related to adventure mode.
1. If you become a vampire, then become a necromancer, do you still need to drink blood? Looked all over the wiki on both the necromancer and vampire pages.
2. Can you become the ruler of a civilization?

Far, far away from Firemountain, in another realm, called Thur Dakon, "The Universe of Omens", there is a mantis man, a green person with the head and arms of a mantis. His name is Dekul Nisamcocu. He is traveling with two human warriors, Istra Jadefuchsia and Jathbi Groovehays. They are by a brook.

17th of Granite, 125.
I have decided to start a journal to record my adventures. I started off in a small human hamlet where I recruited two foolish human warriors. We are far to the north of there, travelling to Urngorge, a tower of death. They think we are going to destroy the evil place. I have other plans. Let us just say that I will no longer worry about food, drink, or sleep very soon...

It is late at night. We have found the tower, but it is night and I would prefer to enter during the day. We went a ways away, for i am afraid if we camp too close to the tower, the animated corpses will kill us in our sleep. We shall enter in the morning. I hope to leave those two for distractions for the walking dead while I fly to the top of the tower and enter that way.

Basic Information

World: Ostarasp

Current Age: Myth

Civilization: The Portal of Climaxes

In the beginning, the Portal of Climaxes was seeking to expand it's power to the east, where the goblin civilization The Sins Of Dancing (And to a lesser extent, The Singed Curses) was growing more powerful. While technically they were at peace, you know how it is with goblins. So from the mountainhomes they sent a expedition to colonize a nearby volcano, hoping it was filled to the brim with valuable ores and gems. They were right, but it would take a few years to discover this, due to the unfortunate events that happened because of the Magma Panic. They called themselves The Fiery Dwellers, and they would colonized the site know as
FIREMOUNTAIN.
Their symbol was called The Greatest Mountain of Smouldering, and was a image of a burning mountain. They really went all into this 'volcano' thing. Sadly, they goofed up in multiple aspects of the embark. First, they exchanged the axe for a silver war hammer, not realizing that the axe was for chopping wood. Second, they didn't know that the mining job interfered with combat, so they brought along a miner/hammerdwarf. The reason they brought those two things is because they heard rumors of fiery beasts rising from the volcano, which happened exactly once, and it didn't even bother them. They embarked on a pretty short 1-2 day journey and arrived right next to the caldera, all that was separating them from certain Fun was a wall of obsidian. Strike the Earth!

DF Gameplay Questions / Retired Fortess Problem
« on: January 28, 2019, 06:41:06 pm »
So I retired one of my fortresses when it was reduced down to a few children and three werelizards, which had killed the rest of my fortress. I had goofed up on this one and built it across an ocean from it's home civilization, so no migrants or caravans ever came. The next fortress was going well, and I checked out the civilization screen about a year after I retired it and saw that the retired fortress now had 200 dwarves! I don't get how this could of happened. I got no migrants at all and as far as I can tell, it was still a part of the original government. So unless the Stoked Ropes (The civilization this fortress was part of) invented boats as soon as I left or this is a error in the code. There might be a completely reasonable explanation for this, so I didn't put this in the bug sub-forum.
