hey! i didn´t start dwarf fortress for some time and now i did, and the game acts kinda strange:

when i try to open any of the windows like "u; unit list" or "a: view announcments" the windows opens all flashing making it impossible to work with. the announcments on the bottom (like "snatcher! watch the little ones") too are all flashy. You guys have any idea what´s going on and how i can fix it?

I discovered this wonderfull game some days ago and I must say that I'm completly amazed. The game is wonderfull!

Currently I'm in my second fortress (the first one.. don't ask..) and I think doing fine! I have survived the first winter, food is comming along, I built a large road got some immigrants. Everything looked so good  . But then suddenly: three dangerous killer Lizardmen jumped out of my well and caused a lot of panic. They slaughtered a number of my dogs and even one of my dwarfs, as I didn't have any defences.

1.Question: The battle was kinda confusing. My (non-war)dogs were doing most of the battling. Will my normal dwarfes (dont have any military yet) do any fighting, if i dont order them to do so? I don't realy know who killed the Lizards.

Most corpses got taken to the refuse stockpile outside of my fortress. However one Lizardmen corpse is lieing directly *under* my front door and nobody is caring it away. And one slain dog is rotting in my well now.. Maybe they like their water with some extra. Well after a bunch of Miasma waves both corpses are rotten and only a bunch of bones remains.

2.Question: Why did nobody take the corpses away? How do I get the dog bones out of my well?

Further I got Kulat Sharezum standing in my Mansons Workshop desperatly screaming: I MUST HAVE THE RIGHT STONE!!

3.Question: How can I help him? He already got some Obsidian and I got a huge Stone stockpile right infront of the gates, not to far away from the mansons shop. I kinda fear that ssomething terrible will happen if he doesn't get the right stone in time...

I got a strange random crash today

One of my peasents turned crazy.

I think that guy become kinda ill, after getting his leg burned by a fire imp. Today he simply went berzerk. Not a great danger, as he was badly crippled, but I still send a squad to calm him. Meanwhile the berzek got involved into a fistfight vs a craftsdwarf and a manager. The last thing that happend was, that my squad arrived, begun shooting arrows, and the walls turned red. Then the game simply crashed.
