DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Anyone know how to buy stuff from dwarven shops?

I've been able to buy things from the trade depot with no problem, but the shops in the fortress proper dont have any brokers or anything. I tried bringing some goods up to the trade depot but even after giving the trader the goods and buying them back, it still has the little $ signs next to them.

Any tips?

Welcome to Sableriddles, a dwarven university! This is going to be a succession game , so let me know if you want to be added to the rounds. The goal for this save is to create a fortress based on an economy of books and scrolls, as well as with a large library of somewhat high quality books

(Also I dont know how to post images in here but when i figured it out ill put some images of the fort so far)
