DF Bug Reports / [40d11]Elite Wrestler won't become Champion.

For some reason, one of my dwarves will not become a champion. He was in my first group of wrestlers, and while all of his fellow soldiers became champions, he stayed elite. Eventually, when I made a new squad, I made him the leader of it.
And now all of his former subordinates are champions, and he remains an elite wrestler.

If a creature has the [AQUATIC] tag, does that automatically make them unable to breath outside of water?
I want to make a civ that can survive both in and out of water, and just want to have some background knowledge before i get started.

DF Gameplay Questions / Why is my food not being moved to stockpiles?

This may be a bug, but I'm thinking it's just me being stupid somehow.

Y'see, I have my kitchen enclosed from the rest of the workshops by a door, so if something rots, I don't have miasma troubles. However, whenever something is cooked, it just laments in the kitchen until it inevitably rots. I just had a pile of 96 sewer brew roasts rot into nothingness.  >:(

The same thing happens at my farms as well. When something is ready to be harvested, it will just rot there, or, my farmer will harvest it then leave it on the farm to rot.
Any ideas why this is happening?

I'm currently modding in a size 32 "Devil" creature, and want him to set everything he touches on fire, a la SoF.

However, due to me being new to modding and not thinking, I just set his FIXED_TEMP the same as a SoF's, and he just burned himself to death.
So, what exactly makes SoFs not kill themselves?
Is it the lack of skin?

I'm just thinking we need a thread to put forth some of our 'good' ideas.

My first idea has probably been done before, but I'm thinking like a fountain:
Birds Eye View:

~=Water, +=Ground, P^=Pump, "="=Walls.

Basically, I'd run a water source under a building and have it pumped up a z level or two above a small 'pond' of sorts, then have it flow down into the 'pond' I'm also thinking of having system to run the water back into the channel, just for kicks.
And of course, if you desire more dwarfiness, you can substitute magma for water.

My second idea is a "memorial tower'
A 6x6 tower to commemorate your dead. Each layer would be a 6x6 room, smoothed and engraved by a master engraver. Then, in each corner would be placed a statue. A staircase (staircases, perhaps?) would run up and down through the center. For ever 4 military or otherwise notable dwarves, a layer would be added upward, so that you can construct that layer out of something valuable like obsidian. For every 4 civilian dwarves killed, a layer would be added downward. This might simply be smoothed rather than engraved. And I suppose you could also put their coffins by the statues.

So, bring on your ideas!

Curses / Can't start LCS in linux

So, I just downloaded LCS from the website (the one in the link, not the latest version.)

I click the crimesquad whateveryoursupposedtocallit, but nothing happens.

I'm using the most recent version of Ubuntu.

This is a pretty simple suggestion, and it's probably been made before.

Its simply the ability to put up a need for dwarves of a certain profession, like a help wanted poster almost. And perhaps the ability to request a certain skill level as well.

THERE ARE NO ELVES! :D

Not even a conquered civ, as far as I can find. However, I can't pour over the Legends page, as I currently have a sexy adventurer in that world.

I'm really just curious. Though, I doubt the machines could run the game without exploding from witnessing such sheer awesomeness.

DF Bug Reports / [39e]Really fast dwarves

Not sure if this is a bug, might just be a faster computer, but I just started a brand new game on a new computer with a slightly modded version of DF, but no changes to Dwarf speed, just adding some trainables.

My dwarves are moving fast. Really fast. In fact, the game speed seems upped by a lot. once again, this could just be a faster computer, but I doubt it.

I can get a save if needed.

So... I just started a new Adventurer game, as a human, in a world I genned about an hour ago.

And as soon as I start out, I get regular messages of:
The Diplomat has regained consciousness
The Diplomat has given in to pain
and the occasional
The Diplomat is no longer stunned.


Is this an extension of the Unconscious Guard bug?

I can get a save if anyone wants it.

DF Bug Reports / [39c] Unable to release a Wolf from a cage

Or, more specifically, I can't q the cage. Whenever I try, it always goes to the stockpile its on, or, if I rid of the stockpile, the nearest other thing.

I bought the wolf from some Elven merchants. He is in a wooden cage, if that makes any difference.

Pretty simple, really, just for doors to be able to be designated so you can only use one side.

Mainly use this to allow, for example, military dwarves out but not seigers in, as well as some traffic control.

DF Bug Reports / [39C] My Jeweler stops doing ANYTHING

For some odd reason, my jeweler has decided to stop doing anything. ANYTHING. He built a Jeweler's Workshop, and is now just standing there. He moves occasionally, but never outside the perimeter of the workshop. He's just gotten thirsty and I fear that he will die. I don't care that much about him, but I don't want unhappy dwarves.

He has jobs to do, and I've set every labour he could be doing to have a job.
Any way to fix this/anyone else have this problem?
