DF Gameplay Questions / Possible to go to a specific year/date?

First off, sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else.
Moving on:
Reading through the Legends section while I was drawing today made me think of how awesome it would be to hop in-game to a certain date to see some famous battle or some such, so my question is:
Is it possible to go to a specific year in the game?
