Hey, dwarfers!

I'm a frequent reader - I read far more b12 than is healthy for any reasonably sized community - but uncommon poster. Anyway, I'm being hassled by management to expose myself to strangers... and you lot are about as strange as they come. Due (partially) to poor decisions on my part, I think they mean stripping on street corners, but you lot should cover any possibilities. You usually do.

Anyway, cheers guys!

Ed: Added full band name in post title. Now shut up, Dave some random dwarf, probably?

DF General Discussion / I love this game...

My little sister was just happily singing a little song to herself:

14 pages of blood in the well,
14 pages of blood!
Drop a dwarf down,
swirl him around,
15 pages of blood in the well!

---

Yeah, I love this game.

I had a giant in the arena. Every few minutes he would bestow a name upon his already-named boot.

DF Gameplay Questions / Joined rivers
« on: November 27, 2008, 04:12:15 pm »
Two rivers enter my map, one river leaves. Unfortunately, this is just because they join, not because I've made some cool arena where features of the landscape fight to the death.

Anyhow, to retrieve several sets of masterwork steel plate from the river, I dammed one of them close to the source. This worked well, soon emptying that part of the river, and lowering the level of water after the joining point enough that my dwarves could collect the armour, etc.

Oddly, though, the water level has risen again. I didn't notice when it happened, but I think it was at the beginning of a sew season. So my questions:

1) Are the water source tiles for the undammed river suddenly working extra hard to make up the difference, or something?

2) Is it meant to happen that way?
