DF Gameplay Questions / AHK Macros Getting Messed Up

Hi, I'm quite new to DF, but not to roguelikes, so I think I'm picking stuff up fast.
The only thing with which I'm having problems right now is AutoHotKey. The macross for exploratory mining that I got off the wiki (both the Easy Exploration in 2 Steps and StrawberryBunny's one) get messed up when I launch them. They paste the mineshafts together or just run amuck over the whole level.
I tried to record a macro myslef using AHK recorder, but I found that longer macross get messed up too.
Does anybody else have this problem? Could it be because I am using a laptop?
