Slaves to Armok: God of Blood / Help with The Editors
« on: February 03, 2003, 11:25:00 am »
**Splinter thread from the Continuing Effort**

Adjunct: Something attatched to another in a dependent or subordinate position.

So an adjunct body part is a sperate body part but doesn't exactly exist on its own. In Armok, internal organs are declared as adjunct to whichever body part they are from. Fingers right now are also adjunct as are the facial features.

In Armok, I believe that the main body part us hit by an attack and then possibly adjuncts to that part are hit as well, but two main parts are not currently hit.

Problem with declaring something as an adjunct is that you cannot then build off of that part in anyway. I found this irritating when trying to make better fingers(with the prpoer three segments). These would have to be made of 15 parts only 5 of which can be considered adjuncts.

So anways, organs are adjuncts, your spike dealy can be used as one or as a seperate part, it's up to you. rigt now, the foot models do not have any areas declared to make connections and are just cubes basically. Looking at my feet, they are not cubes and seem to have places to attach toe pieces at the front. Something does not match up. I'll work on fixing that.

....I'm just not sure how to change my feet into cubes.....

Slaves to Armok: God of Blood / Spells
« on: January 21, 2003, 02:20:00 am »
This is pretty much an open topic where I wanted to find out what sort of spells people are hoping to be able to create (or have created for them if they aren't up to the task) with the next release.

Anti-Fire:
Of course, we'll be able to set things on fire. But, what if for some reason, we set too much on fire (if that's possible)? Well, I figure I'll need to make some sort of spell to stop fire for when I inevitably overuse the spell. I'm not sure how I'll do it yet though (getting rid of combustables, making things uncombustable, water, or using it as a spell component).

Repair:
I don't know about other people, but my weapons don't hold up too well after stabbing many things to death with them. They get all bloddy and chipped and broken is half. Well, it's hard to find a kill someone with a similar weapon, so why not fix the one I've got?

Creation/Polymorph:
Now this spell should be easy to make on much lower levels (turning lead to gold) but it's obviously higher level stuff that I'm looking for. I'm not sure how high up the editor will allow (if entire beings can be created?) but for later releases this will be quite important when I absoluetly need something I can't find. Until then, we just turn out enemey's person into something undesirable. (Let's say that we turn their hair into leaves just to laugh at them)

Healing:
Of course, I like almost every aspect of the game, except for one, I die alot. I seem to die mostly because of some mnor wound that festers until it overcomes me. Or even worse I kill my character off because he gets some wound where he can no longer walk and no amount of sleep seems to heal it. Healing spells of somekind are a must.

Translocation:
There's two ways to go with this; 1) move something to/away from me, 2) move me to/away from something. Walking sucks and taks too long, let's go 50 miles east, I hear it's nice there this time of year. Or, I can mark some relatively safe area with my symol and go there whenever in danger. Naturally I can make other do the same. Now if I see something that I like, I want to keep it, unfortunately, it's quite heavy/violently trying to kill me so, I mark it with something and when I feel nostalgic, bring it to me, or at least put it in between me and something that wants to kill me.

I have more, but I'd like to hear other ideas first. I was mostly just giving general spell ideas now, but be as specific as you want with yours.

Slaves to Armok: God of Blood / Not Naked Questions/Concerns
« on: August 29, 2004, 07:10:00 pm »
I transferred my Centaur file over to the new version and it works fine save for one thing, I cannot get the game to make clothing according to Centaur Pants and the options for making a centaur shirt includes WAY too many body parts. How would I go about adjusting the creature file to fix this? Or must the item file be adjusted to fix this?

[PS] I can't add any Item Class file things to the universe, so any items someone creates must be added to the stock file.

Slaves to Armok: God of Blood / Wholesome Fun Concerns
« on: June 24, 2003, 02:02:00 pm »
Is there yet anyway to attach Special Abilities and Fields to things yet.

I mean, could I make it so that I can give the Shadow Demons the abaility to find Evil Fields, and alter the reaction so that they don't burst into flames there.

And could I attach, say, Purity to a race and make it a requirement to cast Healing Spells.

I have other questions, but I'll save them for later.

Slaves to Armok: God of Blood / Plan rearrangement
« on: May 03, 2003, 05:08:00 pm »
Current plan:

Magic
Items
Buildings
Caves
Combat
Oceans
Climbing
Parties
Character Generation
Eating Drinking

it just seems pretty random to me. I think that party and people interface should come right after towns and such. Climbing should be right before or after caves. I don't think it needs alot of changing just that some things seem to fit together alot better. What fun are caves if you can't climb?

Here's my thoughts on groupings:

Magic
Items

Magic can't really be moved, and it goes well with itmes, for magic items, wands, whatever. Plus I'd like to be not naked as soon as possible.

Climbing
Caves
Oceans

These don't neccasarily come "next" in when I think they should be done, but it's the next group I want to mention. Climbing first so you can run up into trees to escape death, ride horses or whatever. Then caves for some real climbing, things dropping from the ceiling. Giant spidery death around every corner. Oceans actually do fit in here for underground river streams and oceans. It's always wet or damp or something in those places.

Combat
Character Generation

Actual ability to start with a specific person of your creation. Combat seems to fit with this, because it's like related to your certain character concept. Start off as kung-fu master Steve the dwarf, or whatever.

Buildings
Parties

These actually are very related to that last one with combat and char gen. It goes in depth with specifics and interactions.

Eating Drinking

Hi! I don't fit anywhere, so I go at the end. Yeah, this should be later in, since at this point, I guarentee everyone would starve to death. That and water isn't real...
