Other Games / Looking for Players: ARMA 3 Dynamic Roleplay Realism

(Please note this is not a forum/text game. It uses Armed Assault 3 for PC, using the built in ZEUS gamemode)

I am not sure if this is the right area for this, if not mods please move it to the correct section. I figured since this is related to heavy roleplay it may belong here? Anyways going on to the point!

Hello, first a little about myself: My online alias is Dekkar (heres it's killerbees) real name is Andrew Howe, I am 28 years old have 2 children and love to game when I have time to help detach from the stress of realities. I've been playing mostly RP games as far back as Dungeons and Dragons, Neverwinter Nights, Vampire the masquerade, D12 Modern RP, Ultima online to name a few. In which every game I mentioned has the ability to be the Dungeon Master, in which I usually am. I play DM so much I forgot what it's like to be a player, but I enjoy it. I recently got a new idea, since the video game Armed Assault 3 has the ability to play as "Zeus" (which is literally has the same powers a Dungeon Master would have) plus with the editor it makes it for literally unlimited possibilities. I plan on hosting a session designed for 6 cooperative players in which you will start out in either Altis or Stratis with the goal depending on the side the players vote to play as, to either protect(BLUFOR), Start a Rebellion (Independent), or Invade (OPFOR). Or you can play as a PMC with no allegiance to anyone except money, you can accept random missions playing sides or working for corporations biddings.

You have the option to either start as a simple soldier under the command of a squad leader, or as a basic Squad Leader in command of a small fireteam. Both have the opportunity to move up in ranks given their success in missions. (or staying alive) (note if you play PMC it will be a drastically different game experience/ different missions)

 I have written down quite a few features that I will monitor closely to make sure( just like a DM'd game) everything pans out the way it should. Some of these examples include: set force amount for each faction, simulating supply and demand (depending on arrival/destruction of cargo planes/trucks), scripts I have for Zeus it allows me to do more advanced things with the AI such as: Players can take prisoners and create their own POW camps to hold them and even run rescue operations for allies if they are captured, AI will actively search and use buildings as cover and walls, and since I plan on running this like a dungeon master game, and since ARMA 3 doesn't have a stat system, advancing involves moving up in military rank (starting as a basic officer or even a private soldier depending on your choice) with each higher rank grants you access to more advanced reinforcements/abilities for the faction you are on.(call air support, paratroopers, reinforcements, plan attacks and objectives etc) Respawn is on by default and planned on simulating player deaths as being "wounded" putting said player as out of action for the round, or they can continue at the cost of a 1 rank demotion. This is to encourage squad leaders / Generals from going balls to the wall rambo as they could lose abilities or rank. But also allows players to stay in the game, cause sometimes death in ARMA 3 comes swiftly.

There are plenty of other events / possiblites that can happen since this is such a freeform and open game, so each player through is guaranteed to be different.

As expected you will require ARMA 3 updated to latest patch, I am at -6 Central Standard American/canadian time, I plan on hosting a session tonight and the next two days(Sept 5th-7th) in the evenings around 6pm. As I work, will have to plan sessions on my days off, which is usually weekdays. If there is any interest please drop me a line, I have tried to publicly host the server without advertising it, but the only players that joined were ones that weren't interested in RP and would rather randomly team kill instead, so to hopefully avoid that again, I have come to bay12 players to see if they have interest.

Hello all, for some time I was not able to get NWN to work on my pc, after months of figuring out why it was the only game that wouldn't boot up on my winodws 7 I finally got it working again through a virtual os of XP. Thus I am droping my NWN2 project, and I am resurrecting one of my old servers I use to run back in NWN's prime, it's ready to dwelve back into and anyone who is interested in a world that is already developed, focused towards sandbox heavy roleplay with choice/consequence then this is for you. Heres an overview of the scenario in which the players will be involved, the rest of the information can be discoverd in game, with lore and knowledge about the custom game world provided in books, or other items throughout the game. Discover the secrets of this new world!

Server will be direct IP connection through the game interface, sessions will be hosted several times a week. If interested send me a PM, or drop a line.

Hello I will be hosting a Supreme Ruler 1936 Grand Campaign on Gameranger couple times a week http://www.gameranger.com/ Great for playing old games, and easy to connect as all you gota do is locate my server and click join. Will have 8 slots available, starting year will be 1936, and plan on saving and having multiple sessions for those that are interested. Players who role play are highly preferd as it makes the game more fun for negotiations, demands etc. Doesn't have to be historically accurate, you are free to veer off, and it's up to the players how they run their country. Hello I am looking for 1 to 4 players to participate in a DND-styled Dungeon Mastered game that takes place in the Baldurs Gate universe - while its the same location and areas it's not the same timeline as Baldurs gate 1 and 2 and there for the player is free to write his own piece of history in the alternate universe. While there is a main plot if your interested , players are free to dwelve into any direction they choose with each decision having choices/consequences depending on their action. The style of play is Role-play with hardcore ideals (think of The Witcher, Witcher 2 series) Gritty, mature, and rogue-like similarities where death is perma once your character dies you must create a new one. - this encourages players to think twice about decisions and makes the start more of a 'survival' and work together feel. So if your interested in a smaller, yet more detailed role-play experience that leans heavily on free-form role-play where you are free to make your own decisions good or bad, as well as using your skills, stats, and your abilities to help in situations.

There are plenty of features that the player can experience with a DM'd server - such as - , ability to take prisoners or be taken prisoner, alter the trade between cities by attacking routes, bribe lawmen, stand trial or hold a trial, Have a high dexterity skill? Sneak behind that bandit and snap his neck, high strength? Use a rope to scale a wall undetected, with the rogue-like style the possibilities and combinations the players can do to accomplish objectives means no 2 playthroughs will be the same. It's up to you to change the world the way you see fit. If your interested, all you need are NWN2 with both expansions.

Hello, for anyone interested in a role-play on the free byond game SS13 ((  http://www.byond.com/games/Exadv1/SpaceStation13 )) this is a good place to start! I plan on hosting a server several days a week running a modified version of the server "Baystation12"(( http://baystation12.net/wiki/ )). Each session will be played under extended game-mode with many different scenarios and situations that the player will be put into to try and survive. Ranging from attacks from aliens, Meteor Showers, Sand Worms, Syndicate Agents, Space Carp, Space Bears, blob and more! Respawn will be disabled and players are encouraged to work-together. Although in certain situations you may have to hurt or even kill a fellow crew member if they risk the rest of your well beings.. Scenarios range from rescue Ops, to experiments gone wrong, random attacks, structural failures to name a few. There are several races that you can choose from and all will be available at the beginning, along with all classes and skill sets.

So if your interested in surviving and working with fellow players instead of random murder, then this will be for you.

Play With Your Buddies / Neverwinter Nights Dungeon Master'd Game

I am posting to see if anyone is interested in the oldie but goodie game Neverwinter nights. Which has an excellent 'storyteller' system also known as -  a Dungeon Master. In which myself will portray and carry on different adventures for anyone willing to participate. Basically how this will work is we will see whom is interested, get together and find a playtime that works best for one person or several others - like weekends for example. Then I will provide server IP, links to any mods you may need to connect, and the rest is left for you to go through in nwn.  As expected, you will need a copy of Neverwinter nights plus all expansions which can be easily found at  a cheap price at gog.com. NWN: Gold will then need to be updated to latest version (which GOG provides in dl)  Also note that NWN has lots of mods and addons that can be found at nwvault.ign.com. The only addon my DM'd sessions will use is one called CEP (community expansion pack) as it adds thousands of needed items, monsters, and more - to make NWN multiplayer a better experience in general. I have a few scenarios in mind that I will present to any interested players, ranging from playing it out as a prisoner and attempting to escape, to playing as simple guards protecting a convoy, or even a spy sent to gather information - possibilities are literally endless with the fascinating DM system of NWN. DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Playing as predator creatures

Is there any critters that can devour other npcs whole, and or eat their corpses when killed, if played as in adventure mode? And if so, is there a specific line you have to add to enable this? Like can a dragon eat a goblin whole etc?

The game neverwinter nights has many modules, ranging from DND - Sci-fi - to horror, thanks to its amazing tool-set and scripting capabilities. Though sometimes it takes a while to get setup due to having to download the many different addons (HAKS) Specific to each module, its worth it in the end.  This module, is called X-COM Area 51 (Theres also a Prequel called X-INV, which I can also host as well for anyone interested) Both made by Mulu and Lazybones.

If you have the game never-winter nights (an all expansions) and like free-form role play then this is for you. The NWN adaption of the classic game X-COM , The first sightings were fairly benign though they included reports of abduction. Many rejoiced at the irrefutable evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence, while others claimed the world was going to end. Then the abductions increased....

The governments of the Earth are scrambling to come up with a defense to the alien menace. You have all been handpicked to be the first assault team for "X-COM": the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit.

You start in a secret base in Area 51. Your tasks are as follows:

1. Respond to alien attacks with deadly force.
2. Retrieve alien artifacts for scientific analysis.
3. If possible, capture aliens alive for interrogation and study.

The Area 51 base has a state of the art laboratory, as well as a workshop capable of manufacturing just about anything. Top scientists and engineers from around the globe have been retained to provide you with the resources necessary to be the front line in defending the earth. The experimental SkyRanger craft allows you to deploy rapidly and with great range.

Since this is a NWN adaption there are some major differences from the actual game - that being - there is no world map, consider it like a dynamic campaign, its laid out infront of you but there are more then one way to complete different missions. Can be played with multiple players or just 1, and with NPCs, if you are interested stop by the vault and start downloading,

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / COME ON YOU CAN MAKE IT!

So there I was off on my grand adventure in my adventure mode, where all the civilizations are on one giant Pangaea surrounded by frozen waters. Where during harsh storms it rains human blood, and due to the harsh weather conditions, your lucky to keep your bottle of Gatorade from freezing in under a minute, so savor every inch of water you find right?!  So lets start out with the problem I am having with the adventure mode, so I start out to some lair some Milker wants dead because it ate his wife some time ago - before I left however ,I met an incrediabley detailed female crossbow-woman that I just had to take with me. So after a time I convince her and we start our journey to slay the demon for the milk man, we crossed dangerous jungles, hills, and mountains when we stumble across a river. Mind you this is the smallest river I've ever seen and we were both lightly dressed (metal is rare in this world) so I figured oh what the hell! we jump in and begin swimming, and within a few seconds I make it to the other side. But - to my dismay my lovely female companion was flaying in the water, RIGHT NEXT TO ME. To my horror, I hit U keys, I keys, and every key I could think of to try and aid my drowning future girlfriend who was a tilset or less away, but alas nothing was possible.

PROPOSAL - Please add a way to maybe grab an npc in a tile close to you and throw them? So I could of saved my comapnion, or someway to pull them out of water with advanced commands. Just little things like that make a big difference.

Hello, just thought i'd share with you a module I have been waiting to host for anyone who might have the game Neverwinter Nights by bioware. In this module 3 players will play the roles of various importance within a dynamic kingdom. The roles range from King, Mayor, Captain of the guard, Militia Captain, Advisor and more, depending on the size and the development of the city. You will be able to recruit troops, set policies, set tax levels, upgrade units, build and expand inside and outside of the city. Not only that, but you will have to work with diplomacy with other kingdoms, and decide ways to deal with smaller tribes near your city, do you assimulate them into your kingdom by force? Or offer them some terms to come peacefully, The world is your oyster as your able to do pretty much anything in this medieval world.  It is low magic, and isn't based in any major particular realm, takes a little from them all. But definitely low fantasy, while there are Elves, Dwarves and the like, there wont be anything crazy. If your interested drop a line here and i'll give you more details, the only requirements are CEP2.3, NWN updated to 1.69, and both expansions SOU and HOU.

What I have listed is only a few of the features, there are different skill sets and powers to each class in the game.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / 0.31.02 The blood, it wont stop.

So I've been having fun playing the new 0.31.02 of Dwarf Fortress, havnt even touched the Dwarf Fortress mode itself, been playing alot of Adventure mode, well I decided to create an elven psycho path, was a spearmen with heavy armor and a decent shield, went around slaughtering various humans and wild beasts, always attacking at night time, to slaughter my victims while sleeping, well it just so happens there was an aware guardsmen on duty this fortnight, armed with a crossbow, right when I exit a hovel after killing the husband and wife, I was shot in the gut with a bolt piercing through my finely crafted armor, since I couldn't see who or where it came from in the darkness I fled bleeding all the while. I manage to barely get away, dodging several other attempts at shooting me and hid behind a tree down at the end of a hill. I set my back against the tree and try to figure out a way to stop the bleeding, I try to quick travel with -T- but I am told that I must stop bleeding before I can travel.. SO I sit, and wait and try various ideas like taking clothes off trying to wrap wound, or trying diffrent ideas but to no success, I bled until I became pale and passed out , after I awoke I finally I decided to take out the bolt, shortly after, I died.

How to stop the bleeding?

Curses / LCS 3.18, so whats next?

Myself among many others are a fan of LCS, and as a fan I am curious as to where exactly the development of LCS is actually headed.. The way things seem to be going now, we get an update every 6 months or so with the occasional "SURPRISE" at certain times. However with hardly no directed information on whats being worked on, added, or fixed it just seems like the development is out of whim rather then planned. Is there a thread I am missing, and if so can we have THAT Stickied, or is there a way we can have the main continued developer post a sticky based on whats being worked on, what needs to be worked on, and whats being added. I love the new features that 3.18 add's but we know we can make a good game great with even more additions, tweaks, and improvements to the actions and interface. I feel LCS can be more alive with a bigger playerbase like Dwarf Fortress if it had more informative development posts, instead of having Fox reply to a random thread whenever someone asks a question out of the blue.

To sum it up I am basically proposing a stickied thread to better direct new, and old players of LCS alike to the progress and direction in which LCS is headed.

Thoughts?
