This is about an awesome chatbot, which is now running for roughly four years and collection the cumulative responses of all the human chatters.
After some chit-chat, the argument begins. Enjoy! It is hillarious.
Oh, and it is REALY a bot. Even though it says otherwise.

I just noticed, if a dwarf dies, he stays in his squad. Its just a minor inconvinience but nevertheless.

I was training a 9 dwarves strong squad for over a year and just now my jeweler went beserk because i dont have any gems dug out. So I sent them in to do a little policing, but they just cant get him.
They battle now for ~over 2 months against a dwarf with no military skills and they lose slowly.
I have 2 recruits with mayor injuries while the beserk dwarf only sustained some mangeld fingers and heals his bruises!
Meanwhile I seem to suceed in starving him to death, as all dwarves in that battle are now starving and dehydrated.
And some of those recuits even started they military career with average skills in fighting or armor-using.

Considering that I wanted to train them so I could explore the underground...
It seems I wouldnt get 2 feets into the first cavern. That is simply not fun.

DF Bug Reports / [0.31.01] New miner wont pick up his pick

I lost a miner to a cave in just now and wanted to replace him with a useless gemcutter. So I assigned him the mining profession, but he keeps standing in my meeting hall with 'no job' and refuses to pick up his pick.
Is there any method I can make him do what he's supposed to?

As the other miner got hit by the cave in as well i have two perfectly fine copper picks lying in my weapons stockpile.

Edit: I tried it with another dwarf, still no luck.
I even assigned my arsenal dwarf but it changed nothing.

DF General Discussion / Possessed Metalcrafter wont work

I just got my first mood in the new version, a possession  :-\. A fisher/metalcrafter. He claimed a forge and now sits there and does nothing. He tells me he needs "bars... metal..." and "cloth... thread...".
I have a shiney aluminum bar only made for him (im still working to get my industy set up) and i have a bunch of pig tail cloth, pig tail tread and silk cloth.
So why isnt he doing something?

I fooled around in the arena and let a dwarf with iron armor/shield and an iron hammer and highest skills in everything fight against a fire man.
Curiosity: the dwarf removed everyhing from the fireman exept lower/uper body and head in mere seconds. But dies afterwards.

The bug is minor but as i look around, I find 'Fire Man 3's flames' lying around. Three times.
I'm not sure that this is supposed to happen.

Oh I forgot the mention, the fire man had the same equipment and skills as the dwarf.

As the title says. If you butcher a kitten, you only get a skull. You dont even get eyes or any other non full-grown related item. Only a single skull.
Havent tested this for other pre-mature animals.

The refusepile menu doesnt allow for seperate storage of bones, skulls and shells like in the previous version. First I thought they might have been moved to another stockpile, but know I noticed my dwarfs moving my kitten skulls to the outdoor-refusepile. That is a mayor hindrance in my bonebolt production.
Also I noticed that cave lobsters (or any fish/meat for that) dont drop a shell and/or bone if eaten. Dont know if that is a bug or a feature. Maybe they drop them on cleaning. Havent enabled fishing yet.

I made a squad for archers and told them to wear the default archer uniform which includes 'any ranged weapon'. However, my single dwarf in that squad went to pick up a battle axe instead of the crossbow i made for him. He even went so far as to switch his copper battle axe for a steel battle axe once one was available. Changing the option to 'crossbow' fixed the issue.

DF Bug Reports / [40d16] Game wont save

I just got the same bug as in this (rather old) thread.

In summary: I saved the game yesterday and wanted to continue today, but the region1 save was exactly the same as the save in the last seasonal autosave.
All progress since the autosave was lost. I searched the forum and found the thread from above. Seems the bug is a bit longer around than I am.
The solution Oracle found out worked for me too.
(Oracel found out, if you make a fresh DF-unzip and copy the saves to it, it workes again.)

So I thought I quickly inform the forum, that the bug is still in there. Not sure what started it, though.

/Edit:
I guess that since in the other thread, it says its from version 38c, its not a 40d16 problem, but I used that and so I put that in the header.

I just got my first autum caravan from the mountainhomes in my new fort.
Und just now I noticed that my broker/expedition leader is being followed by a legendary outpost liason.  ???
I cant see the stats ingame, only the atributes. He's ultra-mighty, perfectly agile and superdwafenly though.

DF General Discussion / How to find a fun location?

Hey guys.
I spent the last time in df with the search for a challenging location to disembark, but I cant seem to find one which is simultaniusly hazardous and rich with ores/funstuff/general features.
I'm tired if playing a fort that is just in some mountain with nothing to realy treaten you besides the occasionaly goblin siege (Which are rather a joke)
and simply carve your legendary dining hall into the mountainside and to start some ridiculously oversized megaproject.
So I started wondering, how all the successionforts out there get those fun locations, and because I cant figure it out myself, I ask you.
So if anyone has got some tips for worldgen parameters or some mod I would appreciate.

DF Bug Reports / [40d11]Nemesis Unit Load Fail

Im playing my fortress in the 4th year, summer, short after the seasonal save und now i get allways, at the exakt time this error mesage:

Fatal Error: Nemesis Unit Load Fail

The Error occurse everytime I load my old savegame and occourse allway at the same time. Around the 9th/10th of the month.
Has someone any idea how to get rid of the error? I dont want to delet my fortress. :'(
