Please do not feel obligated to answer every question at once, sorry there are so many. Between all the bug reports and old posts and new wiki articles talking about possible bugs or saying "research needed" I'm having a hard time finding exact answers to questions that might be obvious or easy to find for someone else.

1. Someone on a thread just prior to 44.03 said: "Start by playing 43.05 until the next bug update comes out, there is a crippling reputation bug going on at the moment in 44.01 and 44.02." Was this addressed in 44.03? (I'm guessing this could be a fix: Fixed problem with neighbors not recognizing you, including commander and other quest givers. <-- But when Toady says "neighbors" it makes me think that was a Fortress Mode bug.)

2. I like starting as outsider, but I'm never hostile to bandits and such when I go to their camp, and even if I attack one guy the others stand there, making it too easy to get early loot. Companions will aggro them (and I don't like starting with companions), but I have to Alt-Y and then I'm called a killer. Is this because I'm an outsider, or is this a known bug? I can find bug reports about this but they're pretty old.

3. Related to #2, I will often walk into a bandit camp and find goblins killing dancers. I even walked over to a tavern and saw a goblin warlord run out after a dancer and kill her. I killed him and nobody seemed to care, other than to call me a killer, even though I'm fairly sure he was some sort of criminal (I guess he could have been an insurrectionist but still...). Is this a common thing?

4. I saw in an old post that you can get companions to stop autoattacking wildlife by changing some raws  but I imagine that will require a new world? Is there a better way to do this?

5. How the hell do I get rid of companions without killing them? I made one guy a lord and he's still following me around.

6. Can you be the head of an entire civ, not just a town lord? The head of the civ is an injured vampire so it will be easy if I can figure out how to lay claim to law-giver, but I imagine that might not be working.

7. How can I tell what my character's actual (combat) speed is? Is 1.000 equivalent to 1000 (people throw out numbers in the thousands when I search)? Does jogging make me faster at actual combat? I tried looking this up but the combat speed section on the wiki says: "Attack speed has been overhauled for DF2014. Research is impending." I feel like I'm just missing a button push that will tell me this.

8. I've found a lot on this but it's conflicting: If I'm single grasping a multigrasp weapon as a human (who is not tall or wide, so is therefore capable of multigrasping that weapon, but doesn't have to) is there an actual nerf to hit chance with that weapon or not? On a related note I assume removing from a backpack and having 8 singlegrasp weapons in my hand doesn't create a hit chance issue (not that I should abuse that) but let me know if I'm wrong about that.

DF Gameplay Questions / Curses Square Question
« on: June 18, 2012, 04:24:39 pm »
I started using curses square 16x16, and the round boulders and round gems/ores are oval instead of round. Is this how it normally looks? If so, are there any other suggestions for a traditional ascii tileset that has round ones?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Survivalist Crafting
« on: February 15, 2012, 01:10:45 am »
I forgot that survivalist crafting is a feature from a mod or something (or am I wrong?) - start off as a human outsider and can't even carry stuff what with no backpack, just a little bit of a disadvantage esp. with no town nearby and just a hamlet. Did pretty well through a few fights til I got a chipped bone (man the pain from those is worse than any other wound).

Anyway, does anyone know which mod that is, and if it might be compatible with the new version?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Infection
« on: July 08, 2011, 09:30:43 pm »
The cartilage in my right ear was smashed apart. Of all things.

Am I going to die, or just lose the ear?

I'm aware that I can load up some other game and do some software stuff to get someone else to bite his ear off, or load up my own personal medical bay (while I was typing this rumrunner's "pick and axe" spidey sense started pinging and he's waiting round here to regale me with his admittedly sweet method of setting yourself up with allyourbase). I just don't want to have to do all that to save my guy.

But if i gotta do all that to save my guy (I'm playing genesis if that makes any difference) I guess someone can tell me the quickest way to do so if they just have to.  :P

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Best Mods for Adventure Mode?
« on: July 05, 2011, 02:07:10 pm »
I know Genesis has some basic leather/stone/bone crafting that can be done in adventure mode, but I haven't found much else as far as mods that are good to have (and it doesn't look like genesis changes much else adventure-wise other than having more creatures/etc).

First of all, is there a tool that simplifies picking up/putting away items, etc? It would be nice if things could be selected like in the trade window rather than repetitious one-thing-at-a-time stuff.

I know there are complex ways to use dfusion and other programs to create your own little site out of a fortress and get healing, etc., but are there any that allow a little self bandaging? Any that change combat somewhat?

Is there an uber hardcore mod that forces you to start at odds with civilization? This combined with the crafting in genesis would be pretty awesome, rather than having the option to go almost straight away and suit up in iron with a decent weapon after a few kills.

Sorry for rambling, but it doesn't look like much of this exists and I'm fishing to see if there are any obscure mods not listed in the main list here in the forums, or if I simply missed some extra features of some of the larger mods.

(EDIT)
Sorry, some of the questions still stand but I overlooked a thread ( http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=86997.0 )from a few weeks back about adventure mode mods where they mention battlecraft: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=85777.0

Also, the extension to wanderers friend, blacksmith's friend: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=85890.msg2320376#msg2320376

Not sure which would be better.

Again, sorry for the clone thread. But, again, is there some tool that makes inventory management easier?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Weight
« on: July 03, 2011, 11:20:45 pm »
Hi all,

I'm moving much slower than my companions as well as enemies. Is there something that shows me my weight, or would weight not be the reason? I could make the question a lot more complicated but I'll leave it like this; if you have any input concerning weight or slow movement (i'm proficient armor wearer and pretty strong) please comment here. If I've missed something obvious please link it and insult me for not looking around before posting. tyty

DF Gameplay Questions / Can A Statute Be Used to Block an Entrance?
« on: May 20, 2009, 07:30:43 am »
Built into the side of a mountain and in my haste to find some soil to build in (I figured I'd go underground back out to the soil but was blocked by a huge chasm so I had to expand within the mountain) I accidentally carved so that a character moving diagonally can get in or out of my farm area.

Can a statue be placed in this corner so that mobs/goblins can't get in? Or will they simply crush it and then waltz in and kill my farms?
