Welcome, heroes, to the the Illiac Bay! A wondrous place, filled with warring kingdoms, and odd people, much like the rest of Tamriel.
Uh, what is the Riddle of Steel?
A suuuuper super SUPER super old Tabletop RPG from the early 2000s! It was a wondrous game. Unfortunately, skills are not the main point of the game. What is the main point? Incredibly gruesome, deadly melee combat, and incredibly detailed and devastating magic, that's what!
And how does this tie in to Daggerfall or the Elder Scrolls?
Homebrew! These rules, created by Atomicdremora here on this forum for a Morrowind game, are here to facilitate the play of an Elder Scrolls game. Spellswords, Assassins, you name it.
What day is this going to be?
Well, that's up to all you folks. A vote might be best.
And where do I get the rules for this?
Moi, since the company itself has hit the bottom around 2005. I will also provide the homebrew rules to the game via pastebin.
What about Daggerfall?
Players of Oblivion should be very familiar with this kind of setting, but being the Elder Scrolls, there's still bits and pieces of lore available to see in the game. Go ahead and get it, Bethesda released it for free. And be noted, when you do make a character, it may be in your best interests to make a reason to know Emperor Uriel Septim. Reasons, friend.

Life Advice / So a group is splintering apart
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:50:49 am »
The group I used to play tabletop games with, actually.
There's was a total of six people in it, not including myself, so I'll refer to them as A, B, C, D, E and F.
We were kinda around and playing games together for almost two years now, so I got some kind of attachment with them. But, nonetheless, there's always problems.
See, despite being around for that long, we actually got into plenty of arguments, but people insisted to me that it was all fine. Some things happen, Person F gets booted for a while, I was like the only person that kept contact with him for that time until he came back.
Overall, status quo remains until Person A threatens to leave unless I am removed from the group. I get removed, all goes fine for him, I still remain in contact with the others, despite all the shiftiness of how it was handled. But, it doesn't stay all too peaceful for too long.
Since I was keeping in contact with Persons B-F, Person A wasn't satisfied with them not cutting all contact with me. So, for himself, he decided to leave it forever and remove+block everyone skype and steam too.
I thought it was over then. Then Person B, someone who I considered to be a true friend, notices, and gets mad at me for not giving up on staying in contact with the group and causing A to leave, and has proceeded to refuse to talk to me wholesale, in which I oblige him and refuse to initiate contact with him either.
Person C insists I give it a chance still. D, E and F are neutral. Three outsiders insist that I should leave due to all the drama.
What should I do?
Addendum: This all stems from me being far too confrontational, which C and E think I have been managing to control much more easily, however, it is not the same view for the rest. I do admit to being a particularly abrasive person.

Play With Your Buddies / Phantom's Stream of Random and Crashing Games
« on: November 16, 2012, 06:27:03 pm »
Yep! You heard right, this guy:
<----
Is streaming things! From Company of Heroes to random bits and pieces of Sega Saturn games or things as old as the Windows 98!

So where is it exactly?

It's over here, and it's going taking a nap at the moment.

The first thing up for stream is the US released version of Snatcher for the Sega, made by none other than Hideo Kojima of Konami.
Well, that's that, folks.

What the hell, Phantom?
You're welcome.

...Okay, whatever. What's this Riddle of Steel thing?
Nice of you to ask! It's a system similar to Exalted or Shadowrun, in at least dice rolls.

The three main portions of this game can be sliced up into three things, non-combat, combat, and magic. Non-combat includes skills, mucking about with social class, or inventing the breech loading firearm several hundred years before Scotland did. This often ties in with Combat, with skills like Artillery, Body Reading, or First Aid.

Combat is what this system is usually known for. It can be described as brutal, descriptive, and incredibly specific. There's generally two types, Melee and Missile Combat. Either way, fighting either will get bloody and fast. This is often attributed to the fact your only buffer between getting a bit mangled is your toughness, and armor.

And finally, Magic. Magic is a fickle thing in this system. It is not like other magic, where you simply say "I cast a Magic Missile for 1d5 damage". It is much, much, more freeform. Albeit, it is much, much, more deadly. If one casts a spell, they're likely to age at least a few months, and that cannot be undone unless one cannot age or similar to that. For example, with one certain 'vagary' at level two, one can divide or multiply an object up to 10, age it up to a year, or divide a common group of cells, causing them to reproduce themselves.

And one more thing I have not mentioned. Character progression is based on things such as reach their goals, fulfill their destinies, fighting for their beliefs or loves and motivations. One does not simply progress by fighting in some dark cave with the local monster infestation.

Oh. So how do I get it?
Well, the books went out of print several years ago. If (a) book(s) is needed, just contact me, and we'll see what we can do.

...So, any interest? Questions?

General Discussion / Kim Jong Il, Dead As Of 12/17
« on: December 18, 2011, 11:52:10 pm »
Well well well, isn't this a surprise.

At the ripe age of 69, Kim Jong Il has died as of yesterday. It seems that 2011 is the year of killing antagonized figures.

Any opinions on this?

6

Disregard them.

You see, the Inquisition isn't the one that forgives and forgets. They're the ones who fire and forget.

This is a rather recently thought up campaign by me. The overall goal is to eliminate the Arbitrator General, who has caused the Inquisition much grief in certain incidents which I will not speak of. Anyway, this campaign is a free-roam campaign, your orders were simply Kill The Arbitrator General, there was nothing specific, no time limit, nothing. Go ahead and roam around a bit, talk to the populace and attempt to convince them to start a revolution, piss off the Imperial Governor after shooting your way into his palace, I ain't railroading you.

Other Games / GoldenEye: Source
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:35:56 pm »

Yeah, uh, I don't know where to start. Remember GoldenEye 64? Good. Now do you remember how people use Source to do some crazy shit? Combine those two together and you get GoldenEye: Source. Don't expect anything too fancy though, it's simply a remake of the original GoldenEye with the Source engine. It's not exactly like the original GoldenEye, considering the lack of players running around as Oddjob killing everyone and not being hit, and perhaps the maps may be slightly different, but it's a decent game/mod. Playing it is quite fun, too. I'd suggest a try of it when one has the time.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / You are a lost Finnish Soldier!
« on: April 05, 2011, 05:20:25 pm »
Argh, your head hurts...
Ah shit, where are you? There's snow, and trees, and snowy trees just branching out all over around you. It also seems fresh snow has fallen, as you're quite covered by it, and there seems to be no tracks anywhere. Another thing to note is your wounds, you have taken a shot in the leg, and you quite obviously can't run. Your equipment is also running low, considering you only have about, nine bullets or so for your rifle. Your pistol is broken to hell, though. At least you have your trusty tinderbox, and the sound of far off fighting. Extremely far off.

By the way, what was your name?

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Countries at War~Prelude: Turn Zero
« on: March 16, 2011, 10:49:48 pm »

Hello! If you hadn't guessed by now, this is the Prelude to Sheb's version of Countries at War, a shoddily made game originating from ME, and constantly refined by other people that actually had the time to fix it!

Now, just to explain, Prelude revolves around the revolutions of the several countries leading up to the above game. However, due to some territory size things, multiple revolutions will be done at once. They will be separated by letter, and full turns denoted by number. It also introduces something new, a Morale System which will be explained later in this post.

We will be starting with three countries, and move on to the next after they are all finished off.

Turns will be on every weekend.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / London Ruins ~ 'cause I'm bored
« on: March 04, 2011, 11:45:14 pm »
Good morning fellow ground dwellers! If you are reading this, Phantom is bored and wishes to GM a simple multiplayer game! With three people. Now for random fluff!

The following is a random excerpt that I have thought up. Please read it in a senile old English mans voice.

Helloooo heroes! Welcome to the world of the Metro's! The year is 2022, and you are located in the Metro systems located under London, which you have retreated to after the bombs fell. Why they fell, or how many died still remains a mystery. Why you have been chosen as the heroes of this world is strange as well. What you know is you have taken your arms and begin your trips through the post-mortem world, you remember the known Metro inside and out, but the old city above you is left to your imagination. And story? Make your own! All I need is your name, age, and your goal in this world.

I also need your home, please consult this ultra large map.

Other Games / Homefront, that other FPS
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:41:04 am »

So, coming out on March 11th over here in America is Homefront, an FPS set in the conquered remains of the United States, controlled by North Korea. Basically, it's Red Dawn The Video Game, especially considering said movie's Script Writer is the writer for this game.

Anybody gonna get this?
I'm probably just gonna grab this for the singleplayer and for the novelty of crashing helicopters into M1 Abrams.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Welcome to the Zone
« on: January 14, 2011, 10:53:57 pm »
Welcome to the Zone, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.  If you have not realized by now, this is a game based around the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video game series.

Currently Accepting: 6 players.

The Zone, and why the heck somebody would travel here.

You see, the Zone is a wonderfully dangerous place where many riches can be made, ranging from selling Artifacts to the prestigious Freedomers or siding with the perilous Bandits in their quest for swag. Mutants, however, don't care who you are and will kill you.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / You are SOLDAT!
« on: January 05, 2011, 10:19:07 pm »
((Note: Nothing to do with Soldat the game.))
Well, due to inability to do anything of big proportions and boredom, I'll do something simple.
This is a semi-serious Text Adventure in World War 1, the time of when people still thought it was a good idea to ride horses while using rifles while the horse would blow up on a land mine.
1 character will be the center of the story and may be chosen of one of the major countries of the war.
Here's the format to submit a character:

Name:
History:
Country:

I'll go type up something if anything good comes up.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / January Third
« on: January 03, 2011, 08:19:59 pm »
((Text-suggestion adventure, portraying some man's life. Well at least until you guys come in and make him into an estranged psycho.))
You wake up in your New York Hotel Room. Man, there are drinks everywhere, and some people are passed out on the floor. Why were you here again? Oh right, you were visiting from Alberta, Canada, with a few friends. Huh, that's strange, one of them's missing. And you seem to be naked. The windows afford you a nice view overlooking the scenic skyscrapers of New York, but the view is ruined a little due to one of them being open and your pants hanging out of it. Listening, you hear banging in the room adjacent yo to yours.
What do you do now?

Play With Your Buddies / Let's Play X-Com Terror From The Deep
« on: December 29, 2010, 03:50:40 pm »
Well guys, I'm making a TFTD Let's Play to followup Azzuro's finished UFO Let's Play. This is gonna be similar, and if you guys want the original characters may or may not return...

That and I have a tendency to horribly fail missions that are considered easy. For example, Gill Men Port Attacks. They usually have the whole team murdered by a grenade or something

...Or you can reserve a new guy, using a format similar to this:
Name: Jon
Age/Gender/Race/whatever:
Bio: (optional, but I'll write your character based on this)
Preferred Weapons: (don't include stupid things like stun rods being only weapon)
Position: (Aquanaut, Pilot, SWP Operator, Magical Civilian, Free Thinking Lobsteman, anything! However Aliens are 1 or 2 time appearances.)

I'll take the first seven people, but others will have to wait for me to order more recruits, which takes three days or so. Don't forget that you can also have other important people like the scientists and engineers.
