DF Gameplay Questions / In DF 43.05 whats the hotkey for workflow?

Hey folks

Anyone know what the hot key for work flow is? It used to be alt+w or ctrl+w but that isn't doing it for me. The help file on dfhack tool didn't list the hotkey unless i missed it in my quick search. It seems like it listed the hotkeys for a lot of the other features but the one for workflow seems to be missing?

I'm playing the lazy newb pack v0.12c and DF v43.05

Masterwork DF / Is Masterwork DF everything I need?

Hey folks,

I haven't played DF in a few years. Does the Masterwork mod include all the tools i'll need? Lazy noob pack and dwarf therapist and all that? If not I know i'll need the lazy noob pack but is there anything else i'm going to want?

I was testing a mod that worked.... But my embark spot was really awesome. I didn't prepare for never ending zombies though so I abandoned the fort.

Now when I embark I cant retake the fort.. I've even cheated and went in with like 200 war dogs and a crew of steal armored hammer dwarfs. :(

It would be cool if I.can just restart the map or use somekind of cheat to kill everything. Didn't think about saving the map.

Any suggestions?

Sup guys,

I've been away for a while and don't remember this mod I had. It was a smelter mod that allowed your Dwarfs to use a lot of random stone to produce just about anything you wanted.

I loved it because it let me convert all of my random stone into hematite blocks. So I can make a bunch of red stuff. =P

It may have just been a hack i made, but it'd be cool if someone can point me to something similar. I can probably remember how to hack it without to much trouble if I can look at something close haha.

I just got the option for a guard and I'm wondering if I should stick my experienced dwarfs in there or keep them as my army.

I need to train up fresh recruits either way, and if there isn't much difference in the two forces I'd rather have the more experienced solders in the Guard.

DF Modding / How to embark with more dwarfs in DF2012?

Can anyone help me start off with more dwarfs?

I've found a number of posts what have exe files in them I'm guessing they don't work with the new version since the ones I've tried are giving me an index file error at launch.

I tried using these steps to do my own hack but it didn't work. It could be that the instructions don't apply to the new version or that I have no idea how to use hexedit.

When asked to search for the same value a 2nd time my version isn't finding anything. Changing 07 to 1E should give me 30 dwarfs but I only have 7 at launch using the new exe file.

Has anyone figured this out yet?

I played a terrifying map and got owned. It was so much fun. Only 3 of my 7 dwarfs survived long enough to barricade themselves underground. By the time they starved to death there were so many demons on the surface they could have taken out a caravan ::)

I tried to reclaim with 7 axe dwarves but it didn't happen lol.

I'm going to have to step up my combat game.

Does map size have an effect on lag? In other words if I embark on at 2x2 plot on a small map or a large map is there any difference? I prefer large maps because it's easier to find what I want out of the starting area.

DF Modding / Help with old reactions not working in new version.

I'm not sure what I need to change to get these working. It's been a long time since I've played or modded DF so i'm sure i'm missing something. These are the reactions in my smelter file that i'm having trouble getting to work. I think there may be another file I also had to edit.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / how to equip gloves?

Hi,

My dwarf had the gloves he started with equipped. I purchased a new pair and removed and sold the old ones. Now I'm holding the new gloves. When I press w there is nothing I can ware the gloves show up as a weapon instead of an equipped item.

DF Gameplay Questions / Ballista arrow stockpile?

Anyone know what I need to use to get a stockpile that only has ballista arrows?

When I create a stockpile that's furniture / siege ammo my arrows are moved to the stock people. When I turn everything off other than siege ammo noting is moved. =(

Any idea what I'm missing?

I'm looking at starting a new fort and I've found a nice looking place but its scorching hot. I'm wondering if i'm going to run into dwarfs catching on fire randomly or anything else i'll need to prepare for?

I'm not sure what type of material this would be. I've tried silver barb plant in the product string and also silvery dye but I haven't found the correct code.

I think I'm missing a step in the dye making process. I'm trying to dye my steel armor and weapons. The military screen gives me an option to only allow my troops to use the exact item, material, and color but I haven't found out how to dye the armor and weapons.

I send my workers to gather all the plants on the map but the dye workshop only seems to have the options of dying cloth and thread. Am I missing something?

I have a reaction that creates a battle axe. Is there a way to change it to create it with these improvements? Are these improvements something you can apply to existing items from other workshops?

The following improvement types can be used:
Token    Meaning
COVERED    Item is encrusted/studded/decorated with <material>.
GLAZED    Item is glazed with <material>.
RINGS_HANGING    Item is adorned with hanging rings of <material>.
BANDS    Item is encircled with bands of <material>.
SPIKES    Item menaces with spikes of <material>.
