Maybe I need more drugs and corruption to bring in the politics.
I'm also having an issue with puppies overrunning the place. Had two dogs with us when we started, and they've been having puppies like crazy.
This lead to a massive brawl after someone threw a tantrum and stormed into the party room, also pull of unhappy people, and knocked out a child in one blow. By the end of the brawl, blood was everywhere and the only people left were 4 dwarves who ran off and locked themselves in their rooms and died of thirst.
Kinda depressing, eh?
Got about 20 dwarves, running a bit low on food in the middle of the winter, when one of my miners runs out of the fort and starts heading for the hills. Intrigued, I followed him along... and by the time I caught up to him, he was coming back from the far northeastern corner with some cheese (I think). Interesting note is that no merchants have been killed in this game.
So he went off to the northeast and apparently pulled some cheese out of the ground. Or bought it off the deer wandering around the area.
He doesn't seem to be doing anything particularly harmful. Just claimed his workshop and started cutting gems. But I get the feeling this isn't as innocuous as it seems...
Question, though. How do I make coal and ashes and the like for the Metalsmith and the Ashery? Would a Furnace do this?
I could, of course, just build one and find out, I suppose. But why do that when I can ask a (likely) stupid question?
One that sticks out in my mind, however, isn't all that normal. On a quest to kill a cyclops with the most complicated name I've ever seen, he started getting shredded by naked mole rat dogs. After being horribly maimed, he ran into said cyclops and quickly met his fate.
Head smashed in with a helmet of fox leather. Ironic that head armor would be the cause of fatal head trauma.
Anyone else have any particularly interesting moments of death?

But, as the title suggests, I'm curious about wells. Or more exactly, why I can't build one. It keeps telling me that I need 'rock blocks' and a bucket. I've got several buckets and made a bunch of blocks with 'use rock' set in the mason's workshop. Why can't I put them together into a well?
Usurselor Uristtun Asol. "Spoiledrites the Dagger-Door of Seizing". It's a deer leather buckler. That menaces with spikes of more deer leather. I doubt those spikes do much menacing, really.
My number one killer, by far, is a HUGE wave of migrants that always decide to show up at the start of winter. The particular winter they show up varies, but they show up, eat all my food, and everyone goes insane and starts killing cats, which gets more people pissed... and you see where this is going.
How about the rest of you? Invasions? Floods? Stupidity?
It gets up to 65/140, pauses, then splits out 'Inflate Error -3'. Anything I can do to get around this?
I can provide the save if I'm directed to a place to put the file.
Question, though. How do I make coal and ashes and the like for the Metalsmith and the Ashery? Would a Furnace do this?
