What does this signify? It only appears beside one attack in the entire list, and in a separate column from the + and - which denote attack effectiveness.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Weaponizing blood
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:03:49 pm »
Time to weaponize FB blood!

This sounds like an exciting prospect. First, You have to find a way to bring the FB up to the surface, trap it in  a room somewhere, and kill it, preferably with crossbows from behind fortifications. Then when a siege or ambush comes, lock up your main entrance, and instead of forcing the invaders down a trap lined corridor, force them them through the pool of toxic blood. It would probably be best to build a roof over your little blood chamber, to keep the rain from washing the blood away.

The two problems I see with this are goblins tracking toxic blood out of the blood chamber, and dwarves running through the blood chamber to grab goblin weapons. The first problem could be solved by locking the goblins in the chamber until they expire from the syndrome, and the second one could be stopped by setting orders to forbid enemy equipment on death, though the piles of discarded equipment may still bug some people.

I don't have DF installed right now and I'm waiting on the healthcare fixes before I start playing again, but I hope someone tries this out and can report on the results. What do you all think?

Other Games / 3D dot game heroes trailer references Dwarf Fortress
« on: June 25, 2010, 10:07:40 am »
There's a new trailer for 3D dot game heroes out. The trailer is fairly boring until the last few seconds, in which you'll see something interesting.

I was wondering, why do people bother with cats at all? They're impossible to get rid of, and not only do they ruin your frame-rate, but they decimate your vermin population, murdering innocent fluffy wamblers and butterflies, and make small pets nigh impossible to capture and tame. Why not just begin with a trapper?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Rescuing a dwarven child.
« on: December 23, 2009, 06:55:38 pm »
In adventure mode, I sneaked into a dark fortress and rescued a dwarven child. After speaking with him, I found the name and location of his parents, and brought him to their fortress. I wandered around for a while, and couldn't find his parents, but they're probably there somewhere.
Anyway, I was wondering if there's a way to get this child to leave my party and stay in his home fortress. I've tried every speech option to no effect. Would retiring and resuming my adventurer do it?
As long as I'm asking a question, is there a way to outfit your companions? I doubt it, but it would be nice if I could give them some better armor. Also, do your companions run out of arrows/bolts?

I asked this on the "Gameplay Questions" board, but was told I should ask here instead.
Edit: I didn't know there was a 'move topic' button until after I remade the thread. :/
