DF Modding / What token causes embarrassment from nudity?
« on: November 04, 2018, 08:44:25 am »
It's not entity [CLOTHING] and it's not entity [PERMITTED_JOB:CLOTHIER]. Can negative thoughts from nudity not be removed?

DF General Discussion / Jol Soargilt, the Splattered Soldier
« on: November 01, 2018, 07:26:01 pm »
I'm making a mod with ant people emphasizing elite males and females. I'm checking legends after tweaking reproductive systems to ensure the population is thriving. I think this is the best one I've seen.

Jol was one of the first of his kind and did not die by the time the legends finished being written in 550. He has been a part of 4 different ant hives and abandoned them all, even once serving as a general for a single year. Every civilization in the entire game hates him.

He's killed 5 notable people, including other ants. Killing other ants in the sentient ant entity is an unthinkable crime. I didn't know that could even happen.
You'll notice he has a lair. I guess that's because every civilization hates him.

His non-notable kill count tops 250. But uh..

Yeah, 250 animals. I checked. Every single one was an animal.

All Jol Saorgilt, the Splattered Soldier, did was kill and eat random farm animals. I went back and checked to see what had happened with the one female elite he killed, and there isn't much to it -- except that he ate her, and then ate a cavy sow on the way out.

You're a fuckhead, Jol.

DF Suggestions / Migrant waves are preposterously large
« on: October 30, 2018, 04:20:17 am »
There should not be 20+ migrants in a caravan breaking down my border wall at once. There's no way to vet them, assign them new roles. They're just going to collect welfare in the party room.

But seriously please wind back migrant waves or have a Papers, Please screen where this can be done without waiting impatiently at the screen trying to tag them as they run past. My fort went from 75 to 99 in one go. I can't sustain that. I haven't even finished making rooms for the last 25 that joined the prior season.

DF Modding / Caste requirements for expedition?
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:57:37 am »
Hi,

Is there a way to indicate to the game that at least n of specific castes should be provided with every expedition?

Example: At least 1 female, 1 male dwarf.

Cheers.

DF Gameplay Questions / Marksdwarves PAINFULLY RETARDED
« on: June 29, 2015, 04:30:17 pm »
Is this a recent AI change?

I'm trying to get my dwarves to pick up their crossbows and quivers and get into position and the dipshits will immediately engage the first thing they see without collecting any arrows, meaning they are up against fully armored and geared targets in leather with a wooden crossbow bludgeon and nothing else.

How the fuck do I tell Dwarves to flee if they are not equipped? Why are they not equipped with a fully stocked quiver at all times when I tell them to be in uniform 24/7?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Evil Biomes - Butcheries are unusable
« on: June 29, 2013, 05:16:52 pm »
I'm playing on an evil biome and the butchery is almost unusable.

If you don't know, any corpse or mangled bit on the map in an evil area can be turned into an undead. After an animal gets slaughtered, the skin and hair can be returned as an undead creature that then attacks the dwarves.

The problem is, they take on far too many characteristics from their butchered animal. Water Buffalo Skin and Hair is right now killing all of the dogs I have stationed by the kitchen. Even though it's literally just slivers of skin, they take many of their host's attributes and can then go on to overwhelm three different dogs.

Is there any way around this? I'd report it to the bug tracker but it doesn't seem to want to let me register an account.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / God Damn Migrants
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:49:46 pm »
I don't need 50 god damn wax workers I live on a fucking glacier you are of no value to me there are no bees on this glacier go home.

And stop bringing your god damn guinea pigs to my fortress I've owned guinea pigs they suck ass if I could butcher them and feed them to you I would.

Why are migrants so useless? I literally have an army of farmers and floor detailers because migrants just sit around and do nothing otherwise. My idlers are in the 70s in an 80 person fort. What am I doing wrong here?

DF Suggestions / One Small Favor - Adventure Mode
« on: December 01, 2010, 03:51:10 am »
Awhile ago I made this post.

Since Toady's been working on Adventure Mode, I feel the need to propagate it once more. Here's a repost of one of my ideas:

There should be two new body token: "[FIREGLAND:#tiles:ConeofFireo:tempo]" and "[SILKGLAND:#tiles:ConeofFireo]", which would determine that the body part is capable of producing either webbing or fire. You would construct a body part like this:

Code: [Select]
[BODY:DRAGON_GIZZARD]
[BP:DGIZZARD:gizzard][CONTYPE:UPPERBODY][INTERNAL][SMALL][FIREGLAND:24:45:10800]

[BODY:GIANT_SPINNERET]
[BP:GSPINNERET:spinneret][CONTYPE:LOWERBODY][SMALL][SILKGLAND:10:20]

Then, using the [f]ire key, the option to spit fire/webbing using the marksman system is available. In the above examples, the adventure would shoot fire that would consume 24 tiles in a 45o angle from the point of fire at a temperature equal to the homeothermic value of a magma man. The body part will then need a few steps to refill its sac.

However, you could also do something like this:

Code: [Select]
[BODY:2GIZZARD]
[BP:RGIZZARD:right gizzard][CONTYPE:UPPERBODY][INTERNAL][SMALL][FIREGLAND:24:45:10800]
[BP:LGIZZARD:left gizzard][CONTYPE:UPPERBODY][INTERNAL][SMALL][FIREGLAND:24:45:10800]

Then, the character would have the ability to shoot two jets of fire immediately, but would then need to wait for at least one of them to refill after the other has.

Just a thought.  ;)

Also, it appears Flight has been outright removed from Adventure Mode. Sadfaec.

DF General Discussion / Uris McCommander has entered a martial trance!
« on: April 07, 2010, 05:36:52 pm »
My militia commander started doing "Individual Combat Drills" like a year ago. He hasn't stopped. Not to drink, eat, or sleep. His macedwarf skill is rising pretty fast, too.

Edit: Using the same technique I believe caused this (Plant Weapon Rack, Allow for Indiv. Training, Disallow Indiv. Training once started, re-allow it), I now have an entire squad perpetually waiting for group training.

DF General Discussion / When will Adventure Mode get some love?
« on: April 07, 2010, 03:03:31 pm »
I was totally disappointed to see that AM got absolutely no attention in the update. I was at least expecting for Dragon Fire/Web Slinging to be possible... Whats worse is, I think the wrestling menu got even more fractured and disorganized with the update. Even the new injury system gimps players, as there are no doctors to provide amputations/crutches/gauzes.

Things I would love to see.
1. Firebreath/Webslinging added to the [F]ire menu.
2. Doctors
3. Self cauterization/treatment.
4. More organized wrestling menu.
5. More shops.
6. Made-to-order weapons/armor, especially if you're playing as Kobold or something and want smaller pieces.
7. Better "quest" system. It would make me cream myself if we could join armies and participate in seiges/ambushes.

DF General Discussion / Glacier Life is Still Impossible
« on: April 06, 2010, 10:25:33 pm »
I was kind-of hoping that we'd be able to melt ice into water.

Nope. Still not possible.

And what more, with the inability to build farms on unmuddied soil, plump helmet brewing is no longer feasible.

I love you, Toady.

DF General Discussion / Health in Adventure Mode
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:57:22 pm »
Typically, traveling to any location would mend all but brain damage.. Now, my Cutebold dagger warrior's arm is still hanging by a thread after a wolf tried to tear it off.

How2/Repair limbs and stop bleeding in Adventure Mode?

DF General Discussion / Bug - Dropping before losing limb.
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:50:00 am »

In this pretty awesome kobold-caused single-swipe decapitation, the child loses his head gear before his head. Just a message priority issue, but still - I think they should lose their items after losing their head.
