DF Gameplay Questions / Do patients in hospital drink booze?

Or is only water good enough? Noticed this issue when embarked in a frozen biome with only salt water. I had plenty of booze mind you, but the patients in the hospital were still dying of dehydration.

This has probably been done several times but I wanted to try my own. Anyway, what can I change? And how can I increase the size of the tusks? Since mammoths and mastodons had longer tusks, I want it to be a more formidable weapon.

You know the dark elves from Warhammer with their executioner squads and big swords? I'm thinking something like that.

I want to make sure they settle in evil regions, and I want to make sure they can take the heat from undead and such without being impossible to kill for dwarves. I also want them to bring caravans from evil regions, where I can get the hard to get dye and so on. I also want them to be able to enslave ogres, harpies and other things that live in evil regions.

I don't want them to be like goblins that attack everything on sight, but I want them to attack hard if they are threatened.

Is it possible to make humans and elves interbreed in order to create half-elves? They would be prone to both civilizations having the attributes of both and so on but having the ethics of the society they live in, for example half-elf with elves would eat sentient beings, half-elf with humans would not.

Also, for another fort I want an evil region with a volcano but that also seems to fail despite my close managing of the perimeters. Halp plx?

Vampires killing their victims every time is a bit over the top. I mean they can feed on them, making the sleepy, tired, slower, whatever. But killing every time seems a bit excessive. Also, why can't they just go eat my ever growing farm of water buffalos?

So I was tunneling regularly on a map with only saltwater, and all of a sudden I hit damp stone, I look around and do not see any indication of water, ON ANY LEVEL, so I figure what the hell and dig it out, and now I'm flooding EVERYTHING, and it WONT STOP. :D First of all I have NO idea where the water is coming from, and I have NO idea how to end it except for gating in the tunnel that caused the accident.
