DF Modding / Need help/early announcement

I've been working on a mod based off of this:

And I have no idea where I screwed things up.  I think at this point I have to post the most relevant files.  I've done some work on body parts too, so I think I can add in the weirder ones.  Actually, I know I can.  I just tested adding the relevant files into the original mod.  I wanted to keep it kind of quiet until I had something actually playable, with at least a few of the ideas implemented, but it's just not working.  Oh, and I did talk to Aqizzar first to get permission to reuse his work.  I'm glad about that, because I'm far more interested in letting people play with trolls than arguing about permission.

There has to be something wrong with both the creature and the civ, and I don't know what it could be.  I'm pretty sure that it's not the file names right now, though it is remotely possible.  The thing is, I swtiched the names up a little so that I could also have Aqizzar's mods in the same file.  When I did that, his civ with his trolls worked, but none of the other three combos worked(his civ/my trolls, my civ/his trolls, myciv/mytrolls).  There's no error log for mine either.  I managed to fix all the tissue errors I was getting.  I just included the creature, because I think it's an error with them not existing properly.  There's a lot more changes there then in the entity.  Plus, I hit the character limit.

Any suggestions are appreciated.  I'm not against doing a little science to fix these problems, I just don't know what could be wrong at this point.  Also, any general discussion on other stuff I could put in would be fine, though I'd like to get this more frustrating issue out of the way before I working on adding weird critters and weapons and stuff.

I generated a quick world to test a mod I'm working on, with savagery and beasts turned down.  While looking through legends, I noticed a catgirl, which I had modded in as a rare caste of humans, was in the legends, and remembered that I'd left that mod in when I started on this new one.  I decided to check what happened to her, since she lived from 60 to 61, and I tend to check up on them when I notice.  I think I'll just write out her legends log.

Dolak Confusedcourage was a cat girl born in 60.  She was the youngest daughter of Tode Sablelash and Tekud Lightnumber.

She had to have been born in the first month of 60, since that's early spring, and that's when the first of 60 attacks occur.  She died in midspring of 61.  Somehow, during that time, she encountered SIX night creatures and managed to escape from 5 of them.

I checked, and her father also fought several night creatures, and it looks like a lot of others did.  Still, I'm more impressed by the fact that she survived 5 of them.  Kind of makes them seem a little less intimidating.

DF Modding / Ugh, stupid catgirls.

Having a little bit of serious trouble with a mod I'm working on.  Everything works fine without this one human caste(I've added several castes to the custom creature file I'm working on) but when I add it, it breaks the game during worldgen, without an error.

Also, the errors are because I'm not doing whatever it is I need to be doing to add a hair layer or tissue to ears and tails, and I have like no idea how to do that.  I'm reasonably certain that the two color mods it mentions are because it tries to set the color of the ear hair and tail hair(which I should probably actually have as the same color, but I'll worry about that when they actually exist).  I know the stuff I have in there isn't even close to right, since I had made a little bit of progress in a file I ended up deleting.

Oh, and I'm not worried about whatever the effects of declaring a body beforehand are, unless there's extra effects for only having the body declared at caste level.  Because I copied it from the creature level, pasted it once with every other caste selected, and again with just this one.  The world gens fine with this caste deleted completely.  It's just that when I have it in, it stops after it starts progressing through time.  I've seen DF lock up at 2 years, 9 years, and 38 years after I started trying to figure out just where the problem is.

Any suggestions on how to fix either of these problems is appreciated.

Unfortunately, I gotta go for like half an hour, but as soon as I'm back I'll check results and get back to anybody who tries to help me.

This is mostly about the bogeymen in adventure mode.
I spent a lot of time yesterday looking up mythical creatures, something which would have obvious ties to Dwarf Fortress, but I found something completely unexpected.  Under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legendary_creatures_of_the_Argentine_Northwest_region was this:

"If a woman had improper relations with one of the relatives of Almamula, he would punish that woman by transforming her into a series of different forms. First, the woman was transformed in a bogey that would stroll about in the night, seducing, murdering, and devouring any men that she encountered who were alone. Later, Almamula would transform the woman into a mule. The woman, in mule form, would be forced to drag chains during nights on which there were thunderstorms. Finally, Almamula would turn the unfortunate woman into a gigantic black dog with teeth of fire."

So... obviously the bogeymen aren't entirely based on this, because they don't try to seduce you, but most of that first part seems to fit eerily well, especially when wikipedia's main article on the "bogeyman" says that all it is is a creature used to scare children to keep them from being naughty.  Pretty much all the examples fill that roll too.  I don't think Toady's bogeymen actually care if you're naughty or not(anybody wanna try not fighting anything and see if that makes them safe at night?).

Also, I'm not sure if the creature was actually called a bogey or if that's just a translation thing.  Mostly, I just thought this was interesting and obscure enough that I should share.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Accidental Accuracy

This refers to historical accuracy, and the accident was on my part.

Awhile ago, somebody was talking about undergoing a city sized mega project, and the idea of making a city like Venice came up.  I decided that I really liked that idea, so I started working on an aboveground city with canals and roads and stone buildings.  I should probably add wood to the buildings too, and there's a problem with me building roads between the canals and most buildings but that's not the point.  What's important is defense.  I decided that with such a large city, the issue of enemies would be rather major.  Ideally I would eventually have a few groups of melee infantry.  Everybody else would be crossbowmen who had active duty a couple months a year or so.  Split into groups of 10, the maximum size.  Today, I was looking up Venician history on Wikipedia.  "By 1303, crossbow practice had become compulsory in the city, with citizens training in groups."  They were also apparently organized into units of 12, which is slightly higher than what I can do, but still close.  There is no way I can turn away from that idea now, despite how hard it is to get dwarves to train with crossbows right now.

There's a lot more I could do to make it accurate, but I'm not about to dig under every house to build wood logs and then flood that layer.
