DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / !!Blizzard Man!!
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:15:58 pm »
So, I did another glacial fortress in an evil biome. Spawned with a Blizzard Man, no biggie, I'll just use the stone I brought to wall in.

Well, he got in before I could wall up, but thanks to a pet that has a paralysis attack, no loss.

A month passes of dwarves wrestling the thing... I get bored and set their speed to 0 to, well, speed it up.

Another month passes, the usual everything is broken, bruised, scarred, ect. Not even the faint slight of death, so I did what any sensible person would with minor knowledges of the RAW's would do, [DRAGONFIREBREATH]...

It catches flames, and I order everyone away from it, hoping it will burn to death in a short while...

Yet another month passes, it's still sitting in the entrance of my approx. 12 tile deep fortress, burning, not dieing, preventing any sensible progress...

Now I'm all, wtf mate, it's a burning man, hairier than a wookie, and fatter than a hutta, two factors that should lead to a quick death of flames, even in an arctic situation. Is my logic flawed, or is there something wrong with this situation?

"Awaken..."

A voice calls to you in your sleep...

"Fight..."

You see an old woman standing near a tree teeming with blossoms...

"Survive..."

In a flash, the tree wilts and dies, the woman produces an evil smile and flies towards you.
Then all goes black.

"Awaken!"

Screams of terror, roaring flames, cries of futile battle. You awaken to a sword in your face, a man looming over you, he says something in foreign tongue. You are frozen with terror for your life, the man shouts another phrase, getting angry, he raises his arm for a strike to end your life...

The woman in your dream appears in your mind's eye, she waves her hand towards the bandit, then disappears with a softened thump. The bandit gurgles out even more unrecognizable sounds then falls over with his sword still clenched in his hand...

With all this fear and confusion, you sense that a new consciousness has developed in your mind, and that you will have to fight it to stay yourself.

Not to be disrespectful, incase I just missed something. But this is the first suggestion game with actual plot that has appeared on this board for a while. And in case it's not clear, the insanity that are the suggestions to come is the new consciousness.

3
Incase you couldn't tell, this is another one of those self-run forum games where there is an unlimited # of players, and no OP/FP/GM/DM/whatever.

This is based on the standard "Good news and Bad news" information delivery device. Where someone with important (though not always) information delivers something generally good and something generally bad to the receiver (though not always) (Go look it up in TvTropes if you still are clueless to this)

Here players will alternate between delivering good news and bad news, and there are few rules
A)The good/bad news has to somehow relate (hopefully in a funny way) to the immediately previous good/bad news, but not (hopefully) the one before that.
B)The good/bad news shouldn't be something where the only possible good/bad news aftwards would be "That was a lie." or something like that. Unless it would be funny then...
C)Ninjas dont count, if someone beats you to it, simply state so, and the next person has a choice with whom to contenue the line with.

EX:
A: The good news is that we wont be late.
B: The bad news is that we aren't going were we once were.
C: The good news is that it's even better there.
D: The bad news is that your mother-in-law lives there...
E: The good news is that was a lie!
So on and so forth...

So, without further adeu, let me start the thing...

The good news is that the child will live.

I lol'd a few times at this, it was the focubi mod, with 'extra' body parts, and creatures... well first I'll just show this...

First thing: His Penis has both a mitten and a glove on it... thought that was funny, laughed a few times, forgot about it...
Then when I was playing around with the military (Before he got into a endless loop trying to pick-up a breastplate...) I realized the second thing... he was not only holding but USING that pick, that he was carrying with his penis... horrors flodded my mind on how this would work... but then I remembered that THIS IS DWARFFORTRESS!! and not every body-part is used as it should.....

Also, all my buildings dissapeared in Stonesense...

Note:This is my heavily modded version of 31.12 with free mushroom trees, [NO_STAT] Dwarves, and free cotton candy, I haven't dug down past -3Z and even then It's just a small excavation for some flux... This fortress is COMPLETELY constructed, and 99% outside, the only part inside is the well made of hardened cotton candy, The traps are iron picks x10, off map to the bottom I have my FTW machine (Hooked up to the RLoD inside the red shrine with diamond some cear gem windows), which I will implement once my river re-floods...

Play With Your Buddies / Lets Play Caravaneer!
« on: September 13, 2010, 07:33:31 pm »
Ok, I know that it's a flash game, and practically everywhere by now, but it is an incredibally hard game, and I have yet to 'beat it'.

Basic Summary

Caravaneer is one of your basic trading games, where you are supposed to buy low and sell high to make money... but there are other ways. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic, but still modern tech, desert... no idea where in relation to the world, but I would guess west U.S., there are alot of towns some grouped heavily together and others far apart.

And so, our story begins

The effects of global heating were much stronger and started much earlier than it was expected. When the glaciers started to melt it took only five years for the sea level to rise more than 20 meters flooding hundreds of thousands of square kilometers of ground and destroying uncountable number of human settlements. Many natural disasters accompanied the climate change devastating cities and villages. Extreme heat waves along with the quickly expanging drought wiped out a great part of the Earth's vegetation and ruined agriculture and animal industry. Various settlements fell victims to forest fires along with their inhabitants. The rest of humanity was forced to face a nutritious crisis wich made it bulnerable to a huge number of new biruses that spread and mutated faster than ever in the new climate.

People left big cities in search of food and water and running away from contagious diseases. Infreastructures were buster. Civilization as we know it had come to it's end, but not humanity. Although population reduced significantly, survivors gradually adapted to the new conditions. New sorts of agriculture were developed and new animal breeds were raised to suit the hot climate. New settlements were founded around water sources and a new era began.

I kid you not that is the begining of the game... Just a wall of black text, in a tan-ish map-like background... Before we can get to what the game has as our personal back ground we have to create him/her. It's simple enough, just a pre-picked set of 10 faces, 5 male, 5 female, one for each (I think) ethnicity available. Then we have the following statuses

Spoiler: Faces (click to show/hide)
Name: (obvious)
Physical Shape: (directly determines strength which is only used for melee weapons(IDK yet), carrying weight(this*3+1=that), and HP(thisx10=that))
Agility: (directly determines AP(not quite sure but I think(this+3=that)), and speed on map(this=that))
Accuracy: (directly determines sniper skill (thisx10=that)...)
Intelligence: (relates somehow to one of 3 skills mechanic, ability to repair (auto), vet, ability to heal animals (auto with medicine), doctor, ability to heal humans(auto with medicine))

Just pick a face, and fill in the stats. 25 points, with a minimal of one, and a maximum of 10. The name is free.

Ill pick the first one completely submitted, but since the difficulty of this game is intense I'll probobly set up a list of the next person to go...

Because I was insulted for 'letting this die' I AM REVIVING IT!!!

Civil war has erupted over a trivial matter, what should the nations colour be?
half the city-state says it should be red, for war and blood!
the others say blue, for peace and serility...

Each side has hired a mercenary to command their militia army...

WIN: kill the enemy commander
LOSE: death of commander

Damage is as follows (Army size * (Skill with weapon - Enemy Armour + 2 [Higher Ground]) / # of Enemy Troops) for Damage per enemy troop.
   - Archers w/o a melee weapon have a -5 to damage at melee
   - Undead have a +1 per troop damage, due to the shock of being attacked by Undead, this isn't against Commanders
Accuracy is (1d6 if it is > 3 above happens) 50% chance of hit
Every soldier has 2 health, 1/2 health is injured, 0/2 health is dead; Commanders have 5 health, 2/5 is injured, 0/5 is dead.

Moving is 2 squares on the map per unit per turn. Injured soldiers can only move 1 square

Commanders can come equiped with anything of medieval/renaissance era. Magik is allowed this round, but dont go overkill, I wont allow it.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Adventurers of Adventuring [Cave:1]
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:33:39 am »
In a Land before Lands, in a Time before Times... Brave, Bold, Adventurers wandered the planes of existance... Nobody knew why they did so, not even the Adventurers themselves... Though each had their own idea as to why, Fame, Glory, Riches, Expertise, Revenge, Boredom... Then a planet was born, and all the Adventurers we're gathered to this place, to explore the caves of darkness, to defeat the monsters of evil, to grab the loot of... expensiveness... And they all did so untill, all the caves were explored, the monsters slain, and the loot grabed... Then an all powerfull wizzard did something to the world, he randomized the dungeons! so every cave was instantly un-explored the instant everyone left it, the monsters were reborn, and loot replaced! Every Adventurer had FUN doing things again... Well, now that the history is out of the way, why dont we go into this dungeon?

Just fill out this sheet first so we know a little more about you...

Name:
Class:
Weapon Preference:

Classes are anything you can think of, this isn't a DnD style so just a name and a specialty for that class...
Any Weapon you can think of, if it's too exotic I'll ask for a picture

I'm looking for about 3-6 people, and hopefully we'll have some FUN!

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Intrest Check: ASCII Adventure game.
« on: August 18, 2010, 02:35:25 pm »
Well, I had an idea, and was hoping to implement upon it. An ASCII suggestion game, based out of my current DF fortress, you would be an adventurer(s). Trapped within a fortress [going down a tantrum spiral]/[Goblin invasion]/[something that causes the fort to be doomed, but still adventurable so no HFS, but there is an open cavern entrance, lined with pick-traps]. (still haven't decided upon the backstory)

You would start in one of my jail cells, and suffering from amnesia due to a lack of alcohol, and many things will/might happen depending upon whether or not you get my hints.

Edit: apparently proof-reading is good...

d20 for unskilled commands, d12 for skilled commands

1 Crit fail, affects your health in some way
2-7 fail
8-12 success
13-19 Crit success
20 Overshoot, roll again, all fails affect your health in some way, but the action still succeeds

1 Crit fail, affects your health in some way
2-6 fail
7-11 success
12 Crit siccess

No roll for menial tasks like "walk into the next room" but there will be a roll for avoiding detection by the monster in there. Meta-Gaming doesn't count, "Sneak into the next room and look for the monster in there" will be counted as "walk into the next room"

I WILL NOT listen to the retard commands, dont waste your time posting them.

"Ugh my head" you say as you wake up, you dont remember much, but your in your room, of your house. you try standing but you feel woozy and sit back down.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / This game needs Thermite.
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:00:39 pm »
Just think of what could happen with something that can melt through solid rock, and can be handled by dwarves. Just think of dumping the powder on intruders, them wondering what it's all about, and lighting them on fire, only for them to melt completely...

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Bob the Caveman - Day 13: Eureka!
« on: August 05, 2010, 02:36:19 am »
Well, needing a resivour for all the funny things I'll be needing later, I am modifying the OP to accomodate

First off, his name isn't Bob, but Robert Francis Vladimir Checkov Esperenza Wong de Neandrathal, but most people just call him Bob anyway...

Secondly, I have problems with the accual naming of the days, which were origionally called turns... but somehow always link an even of that day to the name...

Thirdly, I was having this happen in the America's, but due to the lack of the invention of paper there, we have now moved to Africa... or more specifically, pre-ancient-egypt

Code: (Days; and their correlated event) [Select]
Day0: Genesis; The begining... duh...

Day1: The Second Day; Also self explanatory, wasn't having much problems so far...

Day2: Monotonous; This one doesn't accually have a correlated event, but someone had an action "Settle down into a monotonous lifestyle" or something along those lines.....

Day3: The Black Thing; AKA The Lunar Eclipse, A Lunar Eclipse happened on this day, I planned this however...

Day4: The Flames of War; Bob finds another person, female, and chases her back to her camp, sortof...

Day5-ish: Title Relating To The Current Plot Arc!; Here is where I started having problems with names, and it is an -ish because of all the commands that took Bob away from home, he was unable to fall asleep untill he was knocked out by the tribe found on Day 4

Day6: Bound Abound; When bob wakes, he is bound, but is quickly walking abound, the tribe is comandeering Bob's cave for the winter

Day7: Jack Frost; Winter storm! I was planning on someone getting frostbite, but nobody was out long enough...

Day?: Dreamland; The fake update that is in a dream, it started simple, but quickly got silly, I didn't elaborate, but if I had, we would all still be laughing...

Day8a: That Is Quite Enough Sillyness; Got it's name after the update played in a dream...

Day8b: The WORST Hangover; Well, again not really a corellated event, but Bob does get a horrible surprise...

Day9: Munsters of the Minds; After Drinking from the Reverse-river water, Bob and his new Mate Naish'na both experianced some crazy psychadellic crap, AKA they got high off of it...

Day10: Ancestral Visitries; Mourned the loss of his parents, and family. Naish'na invents papyrus.

Day11: Cat & Dog Weather; It was raining cats and dogs when Bob woke.

DayOoga: Ooga & Ooga Ooga; Ooga to Ooga the Ooga for Ooga.

Day12: ???; Never named it, has a slowness to it, not losing intrest, just very busy.

Day13: Eureka!; Still has slowness, obvious meaning

The Accual OP

You are a caveman, from the prehistoric era of Earth. You have spent years carving out a cave from a hillside, it is very close to a few dens and there's a river not too far off, huge redwood trees grow everywhere along with some bushes with berries. You came from a tribe that was completely nomadic, you gave a few ideas on how to improve the tribes ability to live and they exiled you. Without anything but wolf-skin furs to protect you from the cold nights you forged a new life, but without a mate your legacy dies, and without a stable food source you wont last long. The lonelyness affects your fledgling mind, and voices seem to command your very will to live.

You are in your cave, and dawn has finally arrived, you set your skins off to a side and stand at the mouth of your humble home.
