Hello everyone! It seems no matter what I do, meet her mandates, give her gold everything, lavish meals etc. She always has a meltdown/tantrum. It just gets so infuriating. She killed my legendary blacksmith, a legendary farmer and beat up one of my pigs....for no reason. After that I just had to quit and take a break. I just cant seem to get her mood above the worst one lol. I am thinking about locking her in her golden mansion and letting her starve. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep them happy? I might have to start over and try and edit monarchs out. It's just too much for me.

Hello everyone! I have a question about dumping items. For some reason my dwarves decided to stack skulls in the corner of a room and they are marked as forbidden. When I try and claim the stack to dump them it looks the dwarves walk over attempt to pick one up but then drop it and it becomes forbidden again. Does anyone know what is going on? I even have Skulls set to be dumped in the standing orders tab. Any help would be appreciate because the pile keeps growing and growing lol.

DF Gameplay Questions / Questions about Nobles (Steam Version 50.03)

Hello everyone! I had a few questions.

1. The first question is about Noble Room requirements. Do nobles require certain size rooms or is it just the value of the room? What is the easiest way to design and decorate the Monarch/Baron rooms to make them "Royal" level?

2. I got to the point that I can select a Baron. What are some requirements I should look for? I have heard from reading old posts they should like easy to make items. Where would I find this information? Is it in the Personality tab under Preferences? If this is the case then I have to go through each dwarf and find the one with the easiest Preferences?

Hello everyone! so, while playing my game I noticed that I had a queen...no idea how or when that happened. I capped the pop at 100. Honestly I thought my fort was a shit hole to be able to get a Monarch lol. I say this because honestly I am having a hard enough time as it is trying get everything in order and re-learn the game while at the same time trying to not die a horrible death from just about everything haha. I really don't need a snooty Queen breathing down my neck making me do things. So, how do people "deal" with Monarchs and other high ranking nobles? Do you kill them? If so how? What are the implications of killing a Monarch? Some kind of civil war lol.

DF General Discussion / Updating The Steam Version?

Hello everyone! I have a quick question for you. I usually turn Auto update off because I don't want my saves to get all weird. With that said, do you think its safe to update to 50.03 from the initial launch version? I am currently playing a Fort right now and was thinking of waiting until I am done with it to update, that is, if everyone thinks that is the right move or can I update now and continue my current game?

DF Gameplay Questions / STEAM: Burying Dwarves?

Hello everyone. I just have a quick question about burying my dwarves. I have a rather large room with many coffins. If i set the room as a tomb it seems its only for one dwarf but if i dont set it to anything it says it must be made into a tomb for burials to take place....i dont understand what im supposed to do. make many individual rooms just to bury a dwarf? I thought you can have one large room with many coffins and they will put the dwarves in the coffins. What exactly do I need to do to bury my dwarves?

Hello everyone. I just have a quick question for you. I decided to perform a scan with my premium version of Malware-bytes on my whole C: drive. Now, normally i would exclude my "Games" folder on the C: drive to save time but i decided to remove that exclusion. When i scanned 2 hits popped up and surprisingly enough they were in 2 older versions of the Lazy Newb Pack. I downloaded that pack from the DFFD which was linked off the main Lazy Newb Pack page on the forums. The versions are 42.06 Starter pack R04 and 43.05 Starter Pack R08. The path is leading to DwarfMockup-1.2.0.EXE on both versions. Malwarebytes lists the hit as Trojan.Swrort. I looked up Swrort and it appears to be a backdoor of some kind. Is this normal?

The file path is
"DWARF FORTRESS 0.42.06 STARTER PACK R04\LNP\UTILITIES\DWARF MOCKUP\DWARFMOCKUP-1.2.0.EXE" and
"DWARF FORTRESS 0.43.05 STARTER PACK R08\LNP\UTILITIES\DWARF MOCKUP\DWARFMOCKUP-1.2.0.EXE"

DF Modding / DF Hack Question.

Hello everyone, last time i played was version 34.07, so everything is still a little foggy. I have a question about dfhack. I used to be able to change the starting embark amount of my dwarves. I tried to do it with this version and for some reason i am having a problem. I am using the latest LNP. It has the script but it just doesn't want to work. I type startdwarf 10 into the DFHack command prompt while on the embark selection map and press enter. It doesn't give me any errors or anything so i am assuming it works. But when i get to the embark screen i only have 7 dwarves? Am i missing something?

DF Gameplay Questions / Question about the next release.

Hello everyone, its been awhile since I played (I think it was 34.07). Just got burned out and waiting for the next release, then ill start again hehe.

I had a question about the next release. Does anyone know if toady is going to fix the hauling issue in the next release? The issue I'm talking about is where a dwarf would bring the container over and carry individual items and put them in the container, then carry the container back (I think that's what it was, or something similar, its been awhile as I mentioned above.) That's half the reason I am taking a break from the game. I hope I explained that correctly. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember something changed drastically to the hauling system since 34.07.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / What would you do?

Found an incredible embark site. Has a river, volcano and best of all...a kobold marble cave complex that goes all the way from the surface down to the 1st cavern level. There's about 40 or so kobolds..women, children, worker's, thieves etc. Everyone is friendly at the moment.

So my question to everyone is what would you do with the kobolds? Just slaughter them? Capture them? Leave them alone? Use them for scientific purposes? Tell me what you would do.

Hello everyone, had another question. This one i actually was thinking about while i was looking in the graphics folder.
1. How do you assign a specific sprite to a creature, for instance if i made a Orc race, how would i be able to add its own graphic? How does the game know that that particular sprite goes with that particular creature?

Been trying to get my mods up and running on DF Mod Manager and i have been getting this error

Warning:  2/16 modifications to object [ENTITY:MOUNTAIN] in mods\my-mods.dfmod could not be applied and have been skipped.

what is 2/16? and is there anyway i can tell what is causing this error so i can fix it.

DF Modding / Weapon Damage?

What is weapon damage based on? I'm trying to add some new weapons and give them a bit more kick but i really don't have a clue as to what to edit. I know from reading the wiki about contact area, velocity modifiers and penetration but what does it all mean, and how much do i increase it? for instance below is the standard battle axe, i know contact area is 40000 and penetration is 6000 i think the velocity modifier is 1250, but what does that mean? 6000 compared to what? just a little confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[ATTACK:BLUNT:40000:6000:slap:slaps:flat:1250]

DF Modding / Need some help modding weapons 31.25

Hello, is it possible to add burn damage to a weapon? for instance making a fire axe? I came across a weapon in a mod which had [ATTACK:BURN:40000:6000:burn:burns:NO_SUB:1250] in it and was wondering if thats possible or not without some other type of modding being done. The wiki said the attack types are EDGE and BLUNT, i couldn't find BURN anywhere.
