DF Gameplay Questions / Pumping magma

So with my most recent fortress, I finally dug deep enough to strike the cavern layer, and feeling confident, I kept digging down, bypassed the next two cavern layers and found the magma sea. This was my first time finding magma, as I've only been playing a little over a month a few times a week. I felt a sense of accomplishment, even though back up top my fortress was in the grip of a category 5 tantrum spiral. Finally the levies on the dwarven sanities broke, and I had to evacuate.
However, this has led me to a few questions for my next encounter with magma. How do you manage to pump the fiery liquid upwards? I understand the basic idea of the screw pumps but I'm clueless on stacking them, and the wiki wasn't very clear on this.
Also, how do magma proof materials work? Will I need to make floodgates out of bauxite, etc? And will bauxite doors stop the magma from flooding my fortress if I have an engineering mishap? Thanks in advance.
