Yeah, no, I came out of the "personality customization" and glanced through the green text to see what got generated as Venom's life goal based on the personality settings... I have to say, I have been amused by the new release before I even started it.

Thank you Toady. You've made a man hopelessly facing his uni semi-finals a bit happier.

As the subject's title says. How the hell am I supposed to navigate myself out of that pre-generated underground mountainhome you're usually put in when starting as a dwarf?

DF General Discussion / Is Toady adding too much?

After 8 months of waiting for the new release I got a bit concerned with what's happening.
As you can see from the dev logs, every time some feature is fully finished, Toady decides to add another one, which results in the need of fixing the new one, and along the way he adds another. And another. And he has to fix it again. Then adds another one...

You see where I'm going with this? :\

Anyone else feels the same way as I do, that there's just too much being added instead of finishing up what's there?
I'm all in for new features, but please add them AFTER releasing a new version finally.

I remember there was a modification of LCS that allowed to start the game as a cripple, super hero or just a little buffed up dude.
Where is it gone?
Too bad it's not for the newest version too, heh.

I just noticed something in the changelog file:
Other bug fixes/tweaks
   (*)changed ring/bracelet symbol to make way for adv mode tools
Oh, you know what that means!
Next update=fully supported crafting your own stuff!

Well, I pretty much would try to convince you to join us, as we are in a big need of: A better clan name suggestion (I think of The Kingdom of Boatmurdered) and some more title holders (counts, Chief Medical Dwarfs, etc.)

Hello everyone. I'm just having a fine playthrough in the Wasteland. I have embarked in a "friendly" wastelander settlement. After some time passed, I started to kill off my "friends" and during one of the fights my war dog got pretty seriously beaten up. The dog will live and probably have puppies and stuff, but it's got a few broken bones and some other wounds. I've got a goodly supplied hospital set up, with 3 docs that aren't doing anything now, and I've been wondering if there's a way to have them take the dog and stitch it up (Doc Mitchell way [New Vegas :P])

Here it is, my brother (he is 7) drew a picture of the event that happened in my fortress. The captain of militia was sparring with a new recruit axedwarf. Everything was fine, except that they equipped steel war axes. The Captain attack the recruit, BUT he missed, and the recruit counter-striked, chopping off (they WERE armored!) the captains whole right arm. And he didn't stop! He immediately slashed the captain again and cut off his whole left leg. Luckily (haha) the captain survived and was transported into the hospital.

Well, I couldn't state it very clear in the topic's name, but my question is: How to make a dwarf to take (if it is possible), for example, a crossbow and place it on the weapon rack. Or, to try to put some high quality crafts or other stuff into a room to make it more valuable(?)

DF Gameplay Questions / Miner lost his pick-won't equip a new one

The topic's name says it all. My miner was mining in a mountain, and for some reason he stopped halfway. I thought that he's just exhausted, so I waited a while. And that while took some more time than it should, and I checked his inventory. Apparently, he somehow lost his pick. I think that he should pick up a new one that's stored in the wagon. But no, he won't. The same thing is with my woodcutters. They lost their axes and won't get new ones. It's my 3rd embark (the other 2 were lost due to BUGS as well) and I don't plan to start over AGAIN due to bugs, and i would be very grateful for a solution for this problem.

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarves won't do what ordered

Well, i finally got myself to learn how to play Fortress Mode. I started out in a human city (they were nice enough to give away all their houses and possesions) and It's going pretty well. But i seem to have got a problem. For example, i wanted to have my dwarves make wooden crafts (or engrave stuff with bones), but for like a year (a year!) none of them seemed to do it, even though I have 3 craftsdwarfs. Also, I have 2 cooks, but when they are ordered to cook some meal, they just won't do it. I assigned all dwarves to be able do all the stuff in Dwarf Therapist, and they actually started doing some other things i wanted (like building worksohps) but still they won't do the most important for me: wooden crafts, weapons, etc.
Anybody knows how to motivate those lazy drunks to do anything?

I just checked the new devlog update, and i was shocked and awed. Just look at this stuff!
Capturing people alive and interrogations
Ability to ride various creatures (Stop...Jockey time!)
Aimed attacks
and many other AWESOMEY AWESOME THINGS that I don't remember or didn't read yet.
When at least 2\6 of this stuff is finished, DF ADV mode is gonna be more AWESOMEY AWESOME than any game made YET.
So, what do you think, guys?

Hello everybody, I've wondered why in .31 it's no longer possible (at least for me) to remove a creature\humanoid eyes via wrestling or any other way. Why is it so?
