Other Games / Baldur's Gate II - Squirrels... Everywhere squirrels!
« on: October 29, 2011, 10:48:38 pm »
Anyone still play this?

I was fighting some hobgoblins during the firkraag quest. My main character's a wild mage, a class added by the expansion that causes magic to do wacky stuff. So, I've got minsc, jaheira, mazzy, and anomen fighting in front, with aerie and I are in back. There's a hobgoblin elite shooting arrows at us, so I try to take him out with a magic missile. Then, this happens:

Korin - Casts Magic Missile: Hobgoblin Elite
Korin- Wild Surge: Squirrels... Everywhere squirrels!

Instead of many red spheres of death, a bunch of squirrels spawn and they're under my control.

Yeah, wild magic is pretty nuts.
I've also had a fireball turn into a mass-heal spell that targeted everybody in the battle.

It is the Age of Dusk. A time of troubles, of shattered minds and frail bodies.

The Age of Dusk is more than just an age to the world of Asdel. A shroud of smoke and dust blocks out the light of it's multiple suns, leaving the world in an eternal twilight.

Asdel itself is much like the prime material plane, save for a few key differences; the creatures have adapted to the lack of light, all having some method of vision. Farmers usually farm mushrooms, as they are more accustomed to the darkness. Crime is much more common here. Anything can be bought with the right amount of money, including slaves.

Lately, a new, mysterious class of magic has crept across this land. The locals call it Fel Channeling, a process in which the 'channeler' permanently binds their soul to that of a demon. There are many rumors regarding their powers, some claiming that channelers have the abilities of the bound demon, while others believe that they tap the very essence of the demon's soul and use it to cast vile magics. The only way to be certain that one is a channeler is by looking in their eyes. The eyes of a true channeler are a single color. Their eyes do not have whites, or pupils. They are only red.
The people have responded to this group with fear, and hatred. King Philas Holte of Vyncis has openly declared war on the channelers, paying gold for the head of any one of their kind.

That is where you are now. It is currently the new year, and the Praising of Last Light, a week-long festival held in the capitol at the beginning of every year, is currently taking place. For what reasons the four of you have come, only you know. However, one thing is certain: this Praising will never be forgotten.
Time for some Q&A!

Q:PBP? Where is this being done?
A: On the mythweavers forums at www.myth-weavers.com.

Q:Hey, can I play as one of these fel channeler thingies you talk about in the opening post?
A:No.  I have my reasons for denying this, but among other things, my homebrew is terrible.

Q:What books are allowed?
A:If you want anything beyond Player's Handbook I, Magic Item Compendium, or Arms & Equipment Guide, you'll have to ask. I know this seems a little anal, but some of the things in the other books are incredibly overpowered/overcomplicated.

Q:What's necessary for making a character and joining?
A: The starting character level is 1, using 1000 GP instead of class default. You'll need to PM me your Myth-weavers account so I can invite you to the game's forum.

Anything else I missed?

No seriously, this game is hilarious. It lampoons the entire internet. You are a random internet user. Your goal? Crash a whole bunch of forums by pwning them with your skills. Only problem being it's one of those "you have a limited number of things you can do per day" games. Other than that, it's pretty funny.

Just for an example,

DF Modding / DFFD Down?

DFFD not working for anybody else?

The throne room was quite a sight. The throne itself was masterfully forged from the
purest adamant, placed apon a raised platform in the middle of the chamber. Above, several
balconies held rulers from the various mountainhomes. The queen, Led Kilrudustuth, sat apon
her throne and pretended to listen to the bickering as her most trusted advisor, the
legendary Mebzuth Dodokritas, whispered in her ear. He had been a general for many years,
and defeated a bronze colossus in a duel. Nothing could avoid the blade of his axe.

The shouted arguments from above echoed about the room, some loud enough to make the queen
cover her ears. The nobles would never stop bickering. Never. Of course, it would be difficult
to stop them when the civilization was the center of the longest famine the world had ever seen.

"Profanemachines desperately needs the food; most of our dwarves are mechanics and masons,
not suited for a life on the farms!"

"You fool! Clearly Id Asol depends on the Axe of Timelessness for defense against the goblins.
Without food, our soldiers will fall swiftly to the green ones' iron blades!"

Led sighed. Would they ever learn? She leaned closer to Mebzuth and whispered,"Bring in the
criminal."

The old general obeyed without question. He and many other dwarves had wished to see this one
punished. The golden doors opened slowly, revealing an extremely skinny dwarf with well-kept
facial hair(the only hair on his body, apparently), and large copper eyes.

"Arzun," Led proclaimed,"You are the cause of this famine, yes?! Your managerial mistake caused
thirteen years worth of food to be dumped into the ocean. What do you have to say for yourself!"

Arzun Degelsacat's glare was clearly visible to the nobles above, who quickly quieted thimselves.
He cleared his throat and began to speak.
"I am one of the best and brightest dwarves in this hellhole you call a mountain hall. I can only
assure you that you and your sources are completely incompetent, and that you have the wrong dwarf.
You fools wouldn't know your fingers from a plump helmet roast."

Mebzuth raised his axe."You'd do well to watch your tongue, unless you want it cut from you."

"Watch my tongue? What kind of dwarf can't take a good insult? A moron, that's the kind."

"You dare!? I have been a general of Id Asol's armies since you were a newborn. Show some respect, peasant."

Arzun spat on the floor, then laughed for several minutes.
"Respect? What are you, an elf? I knew we'd find a tree-hugging bastard around here some-"

His taunt was cut short by a battlecry, as Mebzuth charged forth. Arzun tried to dodge, but the
powerful general smashed the flat of the blade into his face. There was a sickening crack, and Arzun was out.

"If you will not show me respect, I will demand it of you."

"General?" Led called from her seat above the scene of the battle.

"Do take care not to kill him; He shall be the one to solve the problem he solved. Gather the
ones that followed those ridiculous orders he made, and send the lot of them to the far north."

"As you command, my Queen."

Arzun awoke to the sound of a wagon grinding to a halt. He sat up to see...nothing. A massive field
of white stretched out around the wagon in all directions. The air in this place was freezing, as if a
god of snow and ice had taken this place as his home.

"Ah. Our fearless leader is finally awake."
"Urgh...how long...?"Arzun struggled to find the words.
"You've been out for several weeks; it's a miracle you survived. Welcome to Icemachines, 'sir'."

He assessed the situation. Six dwarves under his command, and several bags of seeds, equipment, and other goods.
The wagon even had provisions from the Queen's private stock. Of course, most were frozen solid, but it was all
they had to eat.

One of his dwarves unrolled a piece of paper and set it on the wagon.
"Let's see. Id Asol's borders are here, and we've been travelling north for quite some time, so we should be...
Here."

Mafia / We need some ICs. Badly.
« on: May 02, 2011, 03:49:39 pm »
Okay. I hosted a game on the Baystation 12 forums, and it ended up being a bunch of random lynches, aside from evidence gathered by the Cop and the roleblocker/doctor. So, I'm going to be moderating a Beginner's Mafia on said forum, and I need 2+ ICs for it. Any volunteers?

You and six other brave dwarves have come out into this (1)haunted, glacial wasteland. You were forced to run from plenty of skeletal and monstrous creatures before you could even reach this place. Here, you will struggle for survival, while toiling for the wealth of the king, and the mountainhomes.
Someday, the king may pay your frozen hovel a visit. He might even stay for a while.

DF Community Games & Stories / [Community] Avesali
« on: July 23, 2010, 12:13:42 pm »
We have traveled far, brethren. We few have traveled to escape the wrath of the other races. Our kind has gone to war with them, but we shall have no part in it. So they raid our caravans and trade us nothing. So what? So they massacre our traders in a swarm of soldiers. I, however, still value my life. We have gone to extreme measures in order to survive.

We elves shall embark in a place completely devoid of life, a place where none of those fools would expect us to go. A place where we will be safe from their neverending violence.

A place called Avesali.

My name is Vadane Ramuthone,
And this shall be my home.

-------------
Alright, this is an Elven community fort. Here are the available elves, their professions, and also my elf and her profession.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have heavily modified the elves to make them playable. I added wooden picks,  a custom workshop that turns stone into wood, and a bunch of professions. Join up people!
