DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Collecting Heads!
« on: November 10, 2007, 10:20:00 am »
For some time I've had this small and harmless hobby of collecting souveniers from beheaded enemies. I haven't had too much success, around 10 (mostly kobold) heads at best (my adventurers tend to have a short life-span), but I'm curious if anyone else has discovered this macabre activity.

If so, then care to post a screenshot of your trophy collection?

DF Gameplay Questions / Clear Glass Window
« on: April 17, 2007, 09:10:00 am »
Okay, so one of my nobles keeps reque- DEMANDING a Clear Glass Window. The snobbish bastard won't stop beating my poor dwarves while I have absolutely no idea how to build one of those windows. Every time I try to uild a window the only materials I can choose for it to made off are gems, even though I have some clear glass in my storage.

What am I doing wrong? Please enlighten me.

DF Suggestions / Dwarven Birthdays
« on: May 07, 2007, 06:14:00 am »
So I had this odd idea of Dwarves having birthdays. You could see the dwarf's birthday from their thoughts menu (The place you can see their likes/dislikes). Then at the birthday date the dwarf's possible friends would go and buy (If the capi- economy has started) or make him/her a present. I guess it would add even more depth to the already deep game.

Possible problems:

- The relatively fast pace of the game (Days are short).
- Presents filling that 4 square room.

Hope the post is clear enough, sorry I wrote it in bit of a hurry.

DF Suggestions / More Detail to Statues
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:10:00 pm »
So I had this idea examining the statues in my soon-to-be sculpture garden. "This is a masterwork basalt statue", "This is an obsidian statue", "This is a finely crafted siltstone statue". So they are... umm... statues? Uh yes, I suppose, even though I have no idea what a generic statue looks like.

So the basic idea of this suggestion is adding Double-Engravement style descriptions to statues. For example that obsidian statue in the corner would no longer be a generic obsidian statue but instead an obsidian statue of a fighting dwarf! As with engravings the statues would be affected by the recent happenings in the fortress (So if you just had a fierce fight against goblins there would be a good chance of your mason making a goblin statue).

Of course there would need to be some limits what your dwarves would make statues of. For example while you can engrave a blowdart a statue represeting a blowdart would give a somewhat... bizarre image... or at least a very small statue.
