Curses / Issues with XML file editing
« on: August 17, 2011, 12:03:52 am »
Well, I am trying to add a armor item, essentially, something that will make my leader less...squishy, so he does not die one round into combat, but, I did it right text wise (I think.), but when I open LCS now, I get an error:"Attempting to open filename: sitemaps.txt FAILED to load armors.xml!"
Also, I deleted what I added, and it works fine, here is my addition's XML text.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, if it helps, I did the editing in Wordpad and notepad...why do I think thats the issue, and if it is, what program do I have to use to edit the XML files correctly?
Thanks for any help you can give me. (I am about clueless with this kind of thing, most of the time.)

No one has signed up yet, be the first!

Okay, this is my first succession game, and its usual rules, one year = one turn, get it done in a week, yada yada. Its in genesis mod by Deon, kudos to him for a grand mod.

Its an evil spot, looks decent supply wise, here is the embark supply screen (NOT SHOWN: the other sand lion that is being brought.)

We brought a miner, a mechanic, an herbalist, a woodcutter, a carpenter/mason/building designer, a grower, and a brewer/cook, the miner is named, anyone want to be one of the other six?

So, whos up for this madness, I will do the first year, probably have it done by afternoon EST tomorrow, unless something comes up, so, who is up for this madness?
Also, here is the starting spot.

Okay, on to the first update...

Joy, we just get here and some ogres go by, luckily, our miner, thor, dug us a basic little area to live in for the time being, and we now are out of sight of any other beasts who would want to kill us

We had thor train the two lions for work, in case we need emergency defense, getting the workshops up, thats all for now.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / A fun round of adventure mode
« on: April 04, 2011, 12:51:01 pm »
I got mad at DF for throwing HORDES of night creatures at me every quest, so I made a demigod dwarf, with master axedwarf, and some skills in armor and shield user, and I found a fort RIGHT outside town, and recruited a human swordsman, a wrestler, and went off to kill bandits, only like, three bandits, and after that was over, got a peasant ally, to play meatshield...next camp:He got a messed up leg and kept falling unconscious, and we left him behind, then, I got more peasants, and went to another camp for a quest, and there were like, 10 guys there...they all died, lost a peasant I think, I just kept decapitating all the bandits with my axe, (I had no armor, by the way, stupid game gave me none) and a few more similar camps later, and a horde of peasants following me (The wrestler died, forgot how) Along with My death god of a swordsman (He killed like, half of anything we came across on his own) And on the way to a faraway keep for a harder quest, got ambushed by a ridiculous amount of powerful bandits, they DESTROYED us, due to having just beaten a camp, and apparently the other bandits came for vengeance while we slept, I fled, and when night fell, turns out swords-guy was the only other survivor, and we kept on going...almost to town for recruits...AMBUSH! 30 more bandits...joy, it seemed like infinite bandits, and swordsman of doom-man, took out most of them that came for him, and I killed most of the rest...then, RANDOM BOLT FROM NOWHERE TO A LEG CRIPPLES ME, and then I dragged myself to the general direction of the bolt, since they seemed to be the only ones left, and I saw swordguy's corpse surrounded by like, half the ambush's people's corpses, and two archers popped out, and I killed them both, both got decapitated I believe, and I tried to drag myself to the town...ANOTHER AMBUSH OF A TON OF ARCHERS! And as I try to run to the town (And by run I mean drag with my arm, since one got broken, lost my shield.) Arrow spam, and I get almost every organ but my heart pierced with arrows, and suffocated. Sword guy was my best companion EVER.

DF Modding / Newbie modder question
« on: December 04, 2010, 01:51:37 pm »
Well, I REALLY like Deon's Genesis mod Illithids, so Im trying to make them playable in the practical sense (I can play them, just some issues that I need help with)...There is one issue with it...I can NOT make them forge weapons or make training weapons, Or buy them on embark, I can get picks, ect (And I basically put the entity, body, and creature raws for the Modified illithids in the latest version of vanilla DF) I can play them and all ect, but that is the only issue I have found about my lightly modded version of Deon's Illithids, so it means no weapons, no woodcutting, no nothing in that side of things (That is very bad for a race that all but vanilla goblins hate...) and yes, I can select those jobs. and they have the intelligent tags, and [CAN_LEARN] ect, so little hand here anyone? Thanks. ;)
And thanks to Deon for making one of the best mods for DF I have ever played.

Nevermind, Thanks to the wiki I figured it out.
