DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Scientific breakthrough(?): Undead can drink

As I discovered 2 seconds after unpausing right after embarking at a great location, a mountainous Sinister era with a volcano.
More precisely, a mob of undead dark gnomes stormed through 5 of my dwarves and guzzled my booze. (If you're curious, they then walked away, leaving unscathed the two dwarves left, even though they were pretty close and ready to be killed. Don't know why the sudden mercy. Must have been drunk.)
Another step in dwarven science.
Unless it was already confirmed that the undead could drink, in which case, fuck dark gnomes, fuck the undead, and double-fuck undead dark gnomes, tiny hatted rotting bastards.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Teleporting dwarves?

Long story short, I have dwarves who end up at unlikely locations (like on walls, or apparently walking on the water of caverns - this one includes crundles, and I don't think they all had walls to grab - or in the walled-out caverns, busy being chased by the Forgotten Beasts that were the reason I'd walled off the damn caverns in the first place).
I don't think climbing is involved because not all offenders are even dabbling in climbing after the deed. Double-checking right now... yep, no climbers.
Is that a reported bug, a feature, or am I out of luck?

DF Modding / Bypassing feet injuries

Long story short: I'm getting really, really frustrated by the amount of crippled dwarfs who will never walk again when they however have two feet and no damaged nerve. There are more crutches in this fort than barrels of dwarven rum, and we all know how useful they are.  I read in this forum, a while ago, that one could edit raws to "take off" feet from the whole dwarven race, then "mod them back in" to force the game to "regenerate" feet that are as good as new.
Today, I threw my scruples in the magma sea.
... so, how do I do that trick, if it is doable? Being rather modding-challenged, I couldn't figure it out myself.


And yes, I searched, but after trying several words combinations that didn't give me what I wanted, I gave up.

DF Modding / Hair descriptor problem

Hi, I modded in a new mostly humanoid creature. In-game, I can see its size, its voice, its eye colour and the colour of its skin... but NOT of its hair.
What am I doing wrong? For information, all members of this species are supposed to have only one hairstyle, and it is straight, very long hair.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Deadly dust jumping

There's something weird going on with the latest two FBs I met that had deadly dust.
The first was extremely deadly, not because of the syndrome itself (though it was indeed deadly over time), but because its dust literally launched its victims in the air, causing them to meet again with the ground in rather violent fashions. Said beast being a winged scarab, it didn't suffer any ill-effect.
The second one I'm having right now, however, being an eyeless lizard with mandibles but no wings, very clearly managed to launch itself in the air (as well as one victim whose skull caved in on his brain) and injure itself. Twice. I sincerely hope it won't kill itself before a soldier lays their armored hands on it.
I got a very clear idea of how I can weaponize this shit. Must find a way to catch these monsters alive.

(Optional questions: is it normal for a .18 fort? Met any interesting creature like that? Pretty sure that never happened 2 versions ago...)

EDIT: one single arrow in the throat ended its suffering after the 4th jump. Good job, soldier!

My miner's just had a secretive mood. She's adequate in armorsmithing and weaponsmithing, though she's rusty in both. Yay! I have adamantine ready, and tons of good materials, I...
... huh, she's claiming a masonry workshop. Oh, well.
When she's done with her artifact, she's still a miner. She had no skill in masonry, and still has none. Huh, what?
I'm almost sure it has happened more than once, too. I had "normal" moods before, but it's hard to remember the last time I had a "proper" mood taking in account the mooder's skills. Note I only had like 2-3 possession in 14 years, and mostly secretive moods. Also, using 31.18 and no mod to my knowledge.
Is that normal? Does the rustiness of skills come in play?
