DF Gameplay Questions / No Goblin attacks?
« on: November 17, 2017, 05:43:17 am »
Hey I have been a long time DF player but in the recent version specifically since the introduction of the new armie behavior I have never seen a single gobline since then. I am currently at 110 dwarfes and still havent had a single ambush or suchlike which makes for a really boring experience.

How do you manage to get sieges now?

DF Gameplay Questions / Flying Firespiting Hill Titan Help!
« on: August 03, 2016, 06:40:14 pm »
Hello fellow Dwarfs,
Recently a Titan wandered onto my map and i'm having a great difficulty to get rid of it due to it being a flyer AND having a Ranged attack that starts bush fires. Since its a Fb it wont leave on its own so waiting isn't an option. Sending in my poor and under-trained Marks dwarfs doesn't seem to be an option too due to them instantly catching fire. Somehow I doubt that in the few last seconds of their lives they would get a lucky shot and kill it. So fellow Dwarfs what do you suggest to stop this terror from burning my map to a crisp? While having a way to catch it would be fun at this point I would settle for a kill trap.
I just cant stand any more migrants popping up and starting yet another wildfire.

DF Gameplay Questions / Siege sieze
« on: November 21, 2011, 07:27:41 pm »
I wanna know if there are any modifiers for the seize of the sieges you get. Today I made a new fortress and just had the first two sieges, while the first was just a bow gobbo and his 8 friends but the second one not much later had a platoon of melees and four angry Trolls.I cant really remember doing anything significant in between short of some work on the Bastion (which was in  fain I might add since they found a hidden entrance to an mine shaft >.<)

Are there any things known to enlarge sieges? Im tempted to repeat this some more  :)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / reliable, replenish able work setups?!
« on: August 13, 2011, 09:12:09 am »
As the title indicates I have come to ask you about setups that keeps the workers busy without a great deal of micro ordering them around on my part.
I have already tried to combat unemployment with increasing my furnace operator troop, constantly building new furniture, hunting & butchering etc.  But short of general mobilization I just don't seem to have any way of creating new *useful* work. I could try to start up a cloth industry or start some serious bee-keeping but I fear that doing so in mass will turn my fortress into one giant cluster f* , so any advice would be appreciated.

On a related note 34 of 48 Dwarfs are in the military atm, is there any merit in going beyond 1 in 3 ratio or wont they siege that fast?

DF Gameplay Questions / court-martial Dwarfs?/Kill goblins?
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:46:27 am »

Well, once upon a Time there was a young fortress just training its first squad of Axedwarfs but one day an ambush force of goblins dared to enter after they went past the Hall of Traps only three archer where left. Thus the bridge separating inside from outside was lowered and my ten Steel cladded were told to charge but only two should follow that order while the rest shamefully cowered. while the two courageous took arrow after arrow felling them before they even could prove their vigour to Armok.

To cut al long story short I am now in the favourable position of having goblin archers hanging out in my entryway next to the rotten corpses of my soldiers  while my troops get on shot killed trying to charge them . My go-to-hell plan is undermining their position and let them cave in but thats rather messy.

Anybody got an idea how to get rid of them ? Is there anyway to court martial failed military dwarfs?

on another note did anyone notice that the training speed is incredibly low, I trained my dwarfs over a year and I still only got two novice Axedwarfs [you may take an educated guess what fate they met].

first post btw ;)
