DF Bug Reports / [40d] Cannibal Dwarf?
« on: April 29, 2009, 12:08:13 am »
So, uh, I had a bit of a weird bug in my new game. Late into the second year, I get a message one of my dwarfs has died. He had been a strict food hauler, so I started  checking around the kitchen area. I looked around, and...well:

There was only one other dwarf near the butcher's, and when I looked him up:

They left all the dwarf-meaty bits to rot and didn't tan the skin. So, uh, any idea what's going on?

DF Gameplay Questions / Are there no weight limits?
« on: June 22, 2007, 11:40:00 pm »
So I order my dwarves to move a bunch of stone block bins inside once my roads are all done, look away for a couple minutes, and when I go back they've barely moved. I check to see what the hold up is, and each of the bins weighs 2550R.

If I'm not mistaken, an entire bin of plate mail only weighs 800R. So, uh, how much exactly  can a dwarf carry? Keep in mind these are fresh off the boat immigrants with no modifiers whatsoever.

How heavy is an R anyway?

DF Gameplay Questions / How far a fall is survivable?
« on: November 04, 2007, 05:28:00 pm »
So I started a fortress between a quartet of Goblin fortresses, and I've mined the area directly underneath the largest one six levels down.As I understand it, once there's nothing supporting the area, it will fall and then the layers above will drop with it.

So what I'm wondering is that when I pull the lever and the fortress comes down, will I have splattered goblins, or are the nine or ten weaponmasters going to get stunned a little and then slaughter all my dwarves?

DF Gameplay Questions / Will amputees EVER heal?
« on: June 03, 2007, 04:47:00 pm »
Will a dwarf who's hand/arm/leg gets hacked/torn/bitten off, will they ever actually do anything again?
I've seen dwarves who's eye or ear or finger gets lost somehow work again, but will they ever survive a limb?

DF Gameplay Questions / Marksdwarves refusing to train?
« on: November 28, 2007, 07:26:00 pm »
I'm trying to train up some Marksdwarves, but they refuse to use the Archery targets. They're just sparring with eachother and the melee troops.

The targets are set up in a barracks, and they're zoned so that the dwarves can shoot at them. I even tried to lock the Marksdwarves inside with wooden bolts, but they just started to spar again. At this rate, they'll be better wrestlers than they are marksdwarves.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

DF Gameplay Questions / Raiding in Adventure?
« on: November 27, 2007, 05:22:00 pm »
So I'm playing around in adventure and I recruit the usual pack of drunks and attack a Goblin Fortress.

As one of my drunks has his throat torn out, I get the "You have discovered a Chasm" message. Suddenly, the log starts exploding with "The ratman has gouged out the goblin's eye", the "the ratman has been cloven asunder", and " the swordsman has slashed the ratman's arm". As I actually get near the chasm, I see a stream of ratmen pouring out and slaughtering goblins.

I guess what I'm asking is whether of not ratmen/antmen/goblins/kobolds raid during adventure mode. Are there goblin armies rolling around attacking villages or was this just a weird coincidence?

DF Bug Reports / Horses can talk?
« on: August 29, 2007, 08:48:00 pm »
So I'm running around in adventure mode, butchering goblins, getting dozens of drunks killed to plunder a few <Horse>, and I stop in a town to resupply.
Well, no sooner did the town load then I saw a previous adventurer's corpse dumped unceremoniously outside the buildings. I laugh and put it out of my mind.
Until I see a named horse wandering around. Osirun, or something. So, in prime adventurer fashion I try to wale on it with my mace...AND IT TELLS ME THAT IT KILLED THE OTHER ADVENTURER.

Also, it was apparently flagged as a hero of the town, and the guards killed the hell out of me.

DF Bug Reports / The Replicating Sword and Odd Foreshadowing

Man, adventure mode is buggy as hell.

First off:

Vaguely disturbing.

The second bug has to be seen, pictures won't work.

Pop it into DF or the Viewer and be confused as hell. Marvel at the sword that just won't go away.

DF Bug Reports / Shell Shock? Squatter?
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:01:00 am »
So I'm wandering around the map in adventure mode, when I happen upon a small town. I think "great, I'll stock up on expendable drunks". When the town loads, there's bodies everywhere. Peasants,Guards,Merchants, the Mayors,Horses,Mules, and the usual drunks.

So I grab all the clothes and weapons around the bodies, and head to a shop. And there's some good luck, it looks like there's still a merchant.

So, two questions :
1)What kills an entire town and leaves charred bodies everywhere?
2) Why won't a merchant, in a shop, that he regularly goes back to every day, not trade?
