So when a dwarf grows attach to a masterfully made weapon, would the quality(and weapon to-hit modifier) turn into artifact instead of masterful?

so reading through the threads stroke me with the idea of bulding a hanging obsidian botanical garden.
someone mentioned about trees growing on obsidian, ok that's cool
then the problem is with shrub.
so far i tried the method of constructing and deconstructing floor over obsidian floor that has been noted in the thread, for multiple quick, testing embarks.
and every bit of those turned into stones like andesite, conglomerate, marble, dolomite etc. layer stones, rather than what i was hoping, soil.



so here's the quetion:
can above-ground plants grow on mud?

the only explanation i can come up with, is a near by cave, so grass grow deeper and deeper...wait, can above ground grass even grow on subterranean tiles?
and there are any indicators of quantity like dense, sparse etc.
just grass, like in pre-19.

ok, i gave them a huge pasture EACH,
and those pastures were pretty much full of grass.
they were eating
and they starved.
i had to slaughter them, after one of them ripped my expedition leader's head off.

any pratical way to keep them fed?
or just mod them to graze less often?

do they really exist in game?
or just a place holder like pearl?

whenever i designate to carve upward ramps, FPS goes from anything to 6 or 7.
but digging, channelling are fine.

i now play the genisis mod. it's alot plants
but somehow i can't plant leek seeds obtained from elven merchant
my fort is in cold/temperate forest where thaw only lasts four months a year. thuogh i do suppose once obtained, plants can grow in farms anywhere.
