I have recently reinstalled the new version .34.07. After a year after embark a dog has gone missing. No migrants have yet arrived. Is it possible that a vampire is one of my starting dwarves? If so how do I find him. If not then what might have happened to the dog?

I have just killed a kobold thief, I decided to make the corpse useful I would butcher it and use it's bones to encrust crafts/furniture etc.
Would that be possible without modding or would I need to edit raws to enable that?

I have been wondering some time whether it was possible to mine or to create constructions in adventure mode in order to create a hovel/house/mine? If not then is it planned in the future?

DF Suggestions / Building in Adventure Mode

The main problem I seem to have in Adventure mode is trouble finding somewhere to settle down. What if you could cut down wood with an axe or mine out stone with a pick and then use that to build yourself a house. Maybe even create workshops in which you can create furniture and goods you can later go to town and trade. Or build your house in a town. I think this would be a great addition to Adventure Mode

I have recently decided to downgrade and try the 2d old version of dwarf fortress. Which version would the latest 2d one be?

As the title suggests this thread is about you experiences with HFS and how you dealt with clowns. I personally had a thriving fort of over 50 dwarves until I breached the circus through a vein. Afterwards my population was reduced to just 2 dwarves, thankfully I got them to wall off the only entrance into my fort and am now starting again with goods from the trade depot.

I have recently decided to create a killing room for all the dwarves I don't like (Urist McSoapmaker) after excessive use my body pile has accumilated. I wouldn't want the pile to go to waste so I decided to try to chop up the corpses to make lovely bone crafts. But of course dwarves wouldn't butcher sentient creatures :(. What raws would I need to change to make it ok for them to cut up their friends?

For the first time in my time playing dwarf fortress someone has withdrawn from society. I don't know what to expect and am not deeply concerned seeing as it is just a Potash Maker. What should I expect from Urist McPotash?

I'm fairly new to dwarf fortress (2 months playing) and I've been looking for a way to decorate walls with bones or to make walls out of bones entirely but couldn't find any directions on the wiki. How would I go about doing this?

I've heard a lot of talk  about how in the latest (31.) versions the military is broken. To me it seems fine but I haven't played d40 and was wondering what makes it broken.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / You have discovered a shrine!

I have discovered a shrine, first time in Adventure Mode, I looked at the wiki but found nothing. The shrine is a small limestone structure with pillars. There are partial skeletons and corpses of humans, dwarves and elves scattered all around, they don't have any items.
Maybe mass suicide?
Anybody else had any strange experiences like this?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Playing as Humans

I have decided to play as humans for a change so I added CIV_CONTROLLABLE under entity_default and so far it's going fairly well. But when I click M to create squad (31.18) it is impossible to create squads, same with nobles, there are none. Is this an error or have humans not been developed very far?

For the first time I'm trying adventure mode, it's going fairly well. I'm wondering whether it is possible to target individual body parts e.g legs, arms, head, torso and not just randomly attack the enemy?
