Life Advice / Recommend Free PC Protection Software?
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:19:41 pm »
Hi, I was wondering what free anti virus software would you recommend to protect ones computer? Also any good free anti-spyware, anti-ad ware, or firewall software out there? Reason I want to know is because I plan to do some purchases online and would not be happy if someone got a hold of my card numbers and bank account numbers.

I'm currently using Avast for protection against viruses and I'm pretty much satisfied but wouldn't mind knowing about other good software out there. Can't be too protected right?

As for firewall and anti spyware, I WAS using Commodo Firewall and Super Anti Spyware, but not anymore since lately those two programs are causing massive lags and crashing my comp. Any good recommendations for freeware firewall and anti spyware?

DF Suggestions / Suggestion: Slaughtering Animals Should Leave Corpses
« on: March 29, 2011, 03:13:48 pm »
So is there any reason why slaughter animal skips the whole butchering process? Its pretty silly that it happens in the blink of an eye. Donkey gets taken to the butcher shop and boom meat all over. I think slaughter animal should just kill your animal and leave a corpse at the butcher shop. Then the butcher can come and actually do the work required to get the meat.

DF Gameplay Questions / Do you use markdwafs? How!?
« on: March 25, 2011, 07:21:29 pm »
Ok everytime I try to train up some markdwarfs I always get the same thing: "cant follow order". I cant figure out the problem. I have bolts, crossbows, and the archery ranges. They go and shoot sometimes but most of the time are slacking off in the dining room, those lazy bastards...Can someone help me out here and give me a step by step on how they do it?

Hi, im having a few problems that I can't figure out.

First my milking/cheesemaking dwarfs keep canceling their jobs saying, "theres no milk able animal", even though they're surrounded by animals! I tell them to do it again and they do their job for a few seconds only to cancel again. I tried having two workshops with both set to milk, one workshop milk+one workshop cheese, and both workshops with 10 jobs of milking each instead of using repeat. They keep cancelling and I have to keep setting the workshops to make milk and cheese. Very annoying, I don't think cheese is worth this much trouble. Here's some pictures: (im using lazy noob pack)

Also my hospital is under supplied. I have stockpiles inside it to take cloth, buckets, splints, crutches, soap, and gypsum powder. Some of the cloth is there. The rest of the supplies are sitting in other stockpiles. I changed those other stockpiles to NOT take these items yet my dwarfs wont move them. Pics:

Finally i can't get my courtyard of death to work. The plan was to let enemies waltz on right into the courtyard, only to have berserk axe dwarfs and ravenous war dogs charge and surround them from all sides resulting in a massive bloodbath that I figure would favor my melee instead of their archers.

So I built the courtyard like this:

All those doors are connected to one level that can lock them all. The stairwells in each room lead to the barracks floor:

Here I have 6 squads with 3-4 dwarfs in each. Two of these squads are always on active training. The other four squads are scheduled in a way so that 2 of them train while the other 2 are inactive and they trade places each month. I was hoping this would make them happy but everyone is still enrage or depressed about long patrol duty.

Anyways I made an alert called panic. In panic mode the militia is ordered to defend the burrow in the courtyard and the civilians are set to go to the burrow inside the fort and not the courtyard. When I test it out the civilians all run into the fort which is good but the militia does nothing. So I manually select all my squads and ORDER them to move to the courtyard. Instead they all turn to civilians and run upstairs (what the hell?). Then a bit later they turn back to militia and slowly trickle back down into the courtyard....in a nice little line.

Anyone know how I can do this right?
