DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Altering population limits in save games?

I've been playing a game and so far it's been going pretty well but I was wondering if I could edit my population cap for a fort that already existed?  I have also been wondering what to cap it at, at the moment I recon 60 should be enough for my needs without harming my framerate too much?

What effect does size/weight actually have?  Would it matter if a dragon were to Weigh a kilo or a mouse a ton?

Umm yeah so i was trying to sell goblins in cages to some traders but when i set up my dorfs to transport them to the depot the goblins burst out of their cages and procede to hack of my poor plaything dwarfs arms.  So my question is, what am I doing wrong?

I never noticed this a first but when i got round to it i found that the was no option to plant pig tails on my farms, so I thought okay I'll buy some from the next caravan but my outpost liaison arrives and i decide to ask him to get seeds next time.  But shock horror there is no entry for pig tails!  Does that  mean that my entire civilization has no pig tails and if so what are the alternatives

First off Prosthetics:
Prosthetics come in different types from a simple wooden arm\leg produced at a carpenters workshop to steam-powered masterpieces produced at a mechanics.  The simplest limbs should give a very low ability i.e. a simple wooden arm gives an "ability to grasp impaired" where as a Mechanical arm makes a dwarf stronger.
Slaves:
Lets be honest here what purpose does a caged goblin serve?  What is its purpose?  Let that be the case no more! I suggest a new building called a slave pen goblin rehabilitation center.  Which ,with the use of a manacle, can be used to turn an aggressive goblin into an obedient and subservient drudge.  While these reformed citizens are unsuitable for skilled labour they're strength and simple mindedness makes them perfect for hauling.

As I am loath to use my hard earned steel for my dwarf's Shields i was wondering if wooden shields are okay for military use and ,if not, copper is fine right?

Well turkeys claimed a nest box laid eggs, bloody dwarves took them before i sealed the door and now the nest boxes are unclaimed.  So i have 2 questions if i forbid those eggs will they still hatch and why is the nest box no longer claimed?

Hey folks,  I'm building myself a little castle around the entrance to my "mines" and i want to build a little reservoir so i get the little hole and everything and designate an activity zone then p for pond/pit and then f like the wiki said but nothings happening, can anyone help me?
