Roll To Dodge / Roll to dodge the forum game
« on: September 11, 2008, 04:01:27 pm »
The GM (Game Master) posts a situation you, the players, are in. You then post your actions, exactly one action per turn. Once all players have made their actions, the GM posts again, with the results of the actions and the state of the world around you. After which you post actions again, ad infinitum.

The action results are defined by a six-sided die roll:
[1]: Epic Fail. Whatever you tried to achieve, you didn't, and you made it worse.
[2]: Fail. You didn't, or couldn't do what you tried to.
[3]: Meager success: You didn't fail, but you didn't succeed either. Like trying to sit on two chairs but ending up on one.
[4]: Success: You succeeded in your plight. All consequences are now your problem.
[5]: Epic Success: You succeed in the most positive way possible. The universe will bend to your will.
[6]: Overshot: You achieved what you tried to achieve, but you made it worse by doing so in the most inhumanely overpowerful way possible. Casualties are inevitable.

In addition, if at any time something threatens you, you get a free roll to dodge it. If you end up in a very bad situation as a result of the first dodge roll, you may or may not get another free roll to narrowly escape death.

Okay the whole forum is in the game. You all roll to dodge.
Rocks fall, (roll-1) everybody dies.

Other Games / NERO

Short for neuro-evolving robotic operatives.
It's a game with a surprisingly small/nonexistent fan base which revolves around teaching the artificial intelligence to maneuver around and defeat teams of robots similar to themselves through evolution and step by step training plan.
I think this game might be interesting to DF players since it's a pretty innovative idea that in the same time works.
It is also rather time consuming like DF, but it pays off once you have an army of robotic operatives that can act without running in circles and hitting the wall(which for the new players is pretty difficult.)

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / What's up with whips?
« on: July 12, 2007, 07:24:00 pm »
I was just playing lasher and I can't see why would anyone ever chose them.
I imagined that I could probably use whip for wrestling, but even than it was useless. Can someone explain the whips to me?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Lodged weapons?
« on: September 18, 2007, 10:19:00 am »
Does anyone know a way to let the weapon stay lodged in the monsters' wound instead of maintaining the grip of it when you move a square away?
Dropping it is impossible while lodged and there isn't an option for it when clicking "I".

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Help...
« on: June 30, 2007, 05:59:00 pm »
I just started playing DF. It's addictive and lots of fun, but one thing always spoil it:
Whenever I build fishery first fisherdwarf that comes in doesn't ever leave and doesn't do what he should.
Then with time he dies of thirst unless I destroy the building.
Is this some sort of a bug or am I doing something wrong?

DF Gameplay Questions / Shield training
« on: August 05, 2007, 12:00:00 am »
For the first time ever I got my adventure mode character to legendary wrestler level.
Hearing all the stories of elite kobold bowman I tried to get my shield skill to legendary.
So I let giant mole attack me freely while holding only a shield, and it wasn't buffing my skill at all.
First I counterattacked automatically bashing the mole to the ground into unconscious. When it woke up it jumped on me and in one turn bit off my arm and head   .
Is there any better way for training in shields?

DF Suggestions / More weapons
« on: August 04, 2007, 07:04:00 pm »
Can we please have more weapons?
*puppy eyes* We promise not to poke anyones eyes out...

Sling first comes in mind, since there is so many rocks out there.
And maybe rare exotic stuff?
There is a dagger skill, but it's not available for playable races.

DF Suggestions / Fear factor
« on: July 31, 2007, 04:32:00 pm »
If anyone played Stronghold they probably know what I am about to suggest.
In dev notes implementing scaring your opponent is mentioned.
But using fear on your dwarf isn't, you know like staking them, public executions and stuff like that. That will make repeating the same crime less probable(especially for the executed dwarf). Not to be done automatically of course, I don't need a bunch of dead dwarves for no reason.

So what do you say forum dwellers?

DF Suggestions / Dwarf music?
« on: July 18, 2007, 01:45:00 am »
I found no mention of music being implemented in later versions.
Music could make your dwarfs pretty happy or aggressive or sad...
When I think of it it would be kinda complex to implement it...

EDIT: When I think about it there is no dwarf entertainment at all!

DF Suggestions / Not important suggestion
« on: July 17, 2007, 10:52:00 pm »
I just noticed you can't take someones eyeballs and inner organs like you do with almost any other part. I just want to strangle someone with their innards.

This just wasn't worth your time I suppose.

DF Suggestions / Burrowing
« on: September 02, 2007, 08:06:00 am »
It could be possible to make burrowing animals since now we have third dimension.
Shouldn't be as quick as walking, flying and swimming but it should be useful.
Or maybe I just want to make a sand worm.   :D

DF General Discussion / Question about modding

Can I make creatures normally playable in adventure mode?
And by normally I don't think with play now, I already know how to do that.
