There is a Kickstarter for this game "A Pug's Life"  I played through the demo and really enjoyed it.

You play as a pug, a "Grub Relations Executive" in the local bee-run honey factory.

The game has a unique art style I really like,

Anyways, the game is doing a kickstarter right now, it's about half way funded, and about halfway to the deadline.
You should check out the kickstarter, the demo is on there, I enjoyed it.  If you've got nothing to play and like adventure games you should give it a try.  I'd really like to see this game kickstarted,

General Discussion / Picking an Online Broker
« on: January 20, 2013, 04:57:48 am »
so, I'm looking for an online broker at the moment,
I've narrowed my decision down to 3 choices, and was wondering if anyone had any sort of opinions.

E-trade, Scottrade, and Lowtrade.
here is a basic rundown of each, along with pro's and cons of each.

E-trade,
big company easy to set up account / transfer funds to, no opening amount.
$10 per trade plus 75¢ contracts,  but E-trade also trades in Futures which I might expand into eventually (but probabbly not).
they do margin trading, but at like 8.5% (Margin trading is when you get a loan from them against your current investments with them, then you invest the money you get from the loan, as long as it makes more than the interest you're paying on the loan, it's another source of income)
if I can prove to myself that I can steadily make more than the interest rate, I might consider going this route.
Also, they are very easy to start an account with and easy to put money into / out of, and they have really neat stock market tools and programs that seem really helpful, and have Level 2 quotes for free. $500 to open an account.

Lowtrades,
small company, hard to set up an account, have to print off paperwork and fill it out, and have to send them a check to put money into the account.
$5 per trade, plus 60¢ contracts,
but they charge $15 a month to use their trading programs and lvl 2 quotes,  and they don't offer futures like E-trade, OR margin trading.

Scottrades
somewhat imbetween Lowtrades and E-trade,
$7 per trade, and $1.25 per contract, no futures either, but has margin trading at lower interest rate, something like 7.7%
has programs with lvl 2 quotes for free.

E-trade looks like it has the best programs and phone apps, and they have a local branch that offers free seminars and stuff to members, and I can go in and meet with financial advisers and get their opinions on my portfolio etc.

as of right now I think i'll be using a contract for most of my trades, a contract is where you set a certain price on a stock and it will automatically buy / sell when it gets to that price. 1 contract works for 100 shares,.. I think,...

oh and Lowtrade has a min. opening amount of $500, but thats how much I was planning on starting with anyways, the other 2 don't have any sort of min. opening amount.

soooooo opinions?
I think i'll have 2 or 3 different stocks at a time, going to try to aim for stocks with lower values, or maybe even penny stocks if I can work it out.

because buying a stock thats $20 and selling at $25 is a 25% profit, while a $1 stock going to $1.25 is also a 25% profit, and a stock is more likely to climb 25¢ than $5 in a short period of time,

Other Games / Dragon Nest on Steam, new MMOARPG on steam
« on: December 28, 2012, 10:12:32 pm »
Dragon Quest is a action-RPG MMO that was just released on steam.

~Dragon Nest is a free-of-charge Fantasy 3D Action Online Game developed by Eyedentity Games. It uses a non-targeting combat system ensuring that players have complete control over every single one of their character's movements. Dragon Nest requires users to advance their characters by teaming up and traveling into instanced dungeons.~Wikipedia

It's a Nexon game, and is like a mix between Vindictus and Mabinogi.

I'm going to be playing on the Leviatha server if any of you want to join me.
We can get a Bay12 guild started.

Here is some info on the classes and stuff.
http://dragonnest.nexon.net/guides/class-guide

and the game has full controller support, so I'm going to be playing it with a gamepad.
MMO's that play well with gamepads are awesome.

Other Games / Pirate101
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:45:02 pm »
So, there is a new MMO made by the people that made Wizard101,
I never played Wizard101, but I saw an ad for Pirate101 and it looked good enough for me to try it, and I really enjoyed / am enjoying it.
The battle system is like tactical rpg style, and you go around getting people to join your crew and you fight with them, any other person can join your fight, which adds more enemies to the fight.
And you get a airship (did I forget to mention they're sky pirates!) and can upgrade your ship / buy new ones.  The ship to ship combat is a bit mehh, but the rest of it's really good.
I know it's meant for kids, but I find the gameplay enjoyable, and I like the setting.
The only thing is, it says it's a F2P game, but it's only F2P for up to lvl 9-ish. (you can't do any more quests, but you can still play)
I haven't payed a monthly fee for a MMO in a very long time, but I'm considering buying a month of this game.

General Discussion / Things to ponder / discuss (The Questions Thread)
« on: March 01, 2012, 08:12:05 pm »
I had a thought and I really want / need some outside feedback on it, and I think there isn't really anywhere on the forum (at least that I could find) that would be the appropriate place for a conversation like this, so I made a new thread.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them here and we can discuss it.

anyways, here's my question.

If something happens in a part of the world where it's already tomorrow, and it's such a big event that it makes world news / is written in the history books here in america, would it be written as having happened on the day that it is there, or the day that it is here?
For example, if aliens landed in Australia right now, would Americans write it as
"Aliens visited earth on March 2nd 2012" or as "Aliens visited earth on March 1st 2012"
Because I think writing that it happened tomorrow might confuse the stupid masses into thinking it hasn't happened yet. Your input?
