DF Suggestions / New Zones

I have an idea for some new zones that would reduce some of the game's tediousness and give the player more control.

1. Tree Farm - In this zone trees would be cut down by your woodcutters when they reach maturity.
2. Greenhouse - Similar to tree farm in this zone any plants that grow are automatically collected by your herbalists.
3. Hunting Ground - Works the same as the existing fishing zone but for hunters instead.
4. Clear Ground - In this area dwarves would automatically clear any grass, plants, trees, and saplings from the ground useful for both dirt roads and for keeping parts of you fortress built in the dirt layers clear of obstructions.

Tell me how you feel about these and offer any other new zone ideas.

Today when I was playing in adventure mode I looked in the quest menu under entities and saw...

         "The Decent Systems"

Nomadic Group
Human           

              Respected for heroic acts

When were nomads added and what do we know about them, because there is nothing about them on the wiki.

I just did some tests in arena mode.  The creatures used were humans and all items were iron.

15 with 2-handed swords and shields Vs. 15 with short swords and shields Result short swords win with 13 survivors

13 with 2-handed swords and shields Vs. 13 with long swords and shields Result long swords win with 11 survivors

15 with 2-handed swords Vs. 15 with long swords Result 2-handed swords win with 7 survivors

15 with 2-handed swords Vs. 15 with short swords Result 2-handed swords win with 9 survivors


These results suggest 2-handed swords do get a debuff when wielded with other items.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Filthy muck

I was adventuring today and found a river filled with a substance called filthy muck it acts like blood when flowing thought the river and turns the water yellow.  Has anyone else seen this before. I did a search for it on the forums and wiki but couldn't find anything.

edit: unlike blood it does not seem to come off while swimming.  Also when you try to drink it it says no that's disgusting.

I always make an ant man civ for my game but I could never find out why the can't learn swimming.  Could anyone help, please.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Water purification

I had put some stagnant water in my waterskin, later I dropped when I was getting water from a well I dropped the water. When I was drinking well water I noticed the stagnant water on the ground was just called water.  I filled my waterskin with it and it was now pure water.

Anyone else notice this.

I am creating this thread to discuss the new Necromancer books.  Post anything about the such as names, descriptions, and any other information about them.  I haven't gotten to see any books myself yet because I am too busy.  I am also hoping this will make a good source of research the wiki when it is being updated.
