DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / What to do with my Twilight Creature

I've accidentally embarked on the lair of a twilight creature.  I have him trapped in his lair. Now, I need to find a use for him.

He's made of slate, so I figure he'll make a good goblin masher, and I've considered trapping him in a glass box and making him into a freak show of sorts.

Any ideas?

DF Gameplay Questions / Invisible Pillars

I'm having trouble with the pillars in my walls.  They're not visible, or are displayed as black boxes.  I switched from a graphics pack, to regular ascii, and the problem began.  The bug numbered "0002455" is what I'm experiencing, as far as I can tell.  Anyone know what to do?

DF Gameplay Questions / Modifying Adventure Mode Controls

I'm trying to configure the controls for adventure mode.  I have changed the controls for movement to use HJKLYUBN, like Rogue and Nethack. 
However, these controls don't work when I enter the fast travel mode, by pressing "T".  I don't have a Numpad, so unless I fix this, I won't be able to play Adv. mode as I would like.

I noticed last night that there is a folder in init that contains the parameters form Advanced World Gen.  Is there any advantage to using this over the built in version?  Are there any parameters that can only be edited there?

So how bad are aquifers really?  Judging by the wiki, it seems that most of them are in sedementary layers.  I have a lot of locations that have both aquifer and shallow metals, which I take to mean iron(Being on a sedement layer and all).  So, is dealing with aquifer that bad?  Would I actually be able to get metals, and make a working underground fort?

I'm looking for some ideas for a unique defense mechanism.  I usually just line every opening and corridor with cages, along with an okayish militia, but come next update, I want to try something new.  Any ideas?

DF Gameplay Questions / Vi keys for Adventures

I've been trying to modify the controls on Adventure Mode to use Vi keys (hjklyubn), like Nethack.  However, there tends to be a lot of clashing when one key is supposed to do two unrelated things.  Finally, I gave up, but found this topic, and tried the download out.  Problem is, those bindings affected everything but Adventure Mode.  So I guess what I'm asking is, where do I put those bindings to affect Adventure Mode?
