DF Gameplay Questions / goblin sieges spawning in my fortress

so yea.  this happened to me before apparently i dont understand how goblins show up in my fort.  i have one main entrance in the middle, and two guarded opening into farms.  how did they pop up in my clothes making area?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / king vampire and her gostly queen consort

so i tried to drop this on a list of vampire facts, but no one seemed to pick it up.

my king, is a king vampire. his queen is a ghost.  as in they share a bedroom together.

i dont seem to have a lot of vampires or anything, two that i know of, including the king.  i have a save when the king got to my mountainhome, but i havnt posted it. 

does someone know something about this phenomenon? 

im going to lock my king up in a forward defense position, to be separated from the rest and spend his perpetual life training for killing goblins and killing goblins.  i shall try to appease the spirit of my queen by engraving her a slab, but im not sure she'll go away if shes still dating my king. 

this is cool, but im in the dark here.

DF General Discussion / Help, i cant see!

for some reason the white and less white colors for text in game, for example on the start menu "Continue Game."  anyway, they just arn't different enough for me.  i've tried editing the init.colors.txt but that doesnt seem to change what i want.
