DF Adventure Mode Discussion / I am a dabbling engraver

So I've been exploring dungeons and successfully not-dying for a little while now. I just resurfaced after almost dying from a mortal wound and I found that I've gained some skill in engraving (73/500). Has anyone else had this? It's hard to get information on non-starting skills for adventure mode from the wiki 
I can tell you that I didn't engrave anything, but maybe while being thrown down a several z-level pit the floor ended up with a life-sized engraving of an adventurer? That's about all I can think of
