DF Gameplay Questions / Problems creating a swimming training ground with minecarts

So I noticed this article on the wiki and decided to try to build one myself. Built the whole thing impulse ramps and all, but for some reason at the very last ramp my minecart turns around and starts going the other way. I checked all my links to make sure it was connecting and everything seemed fine. I've smoothed and re-tracked the ramp and surrounding tracks several times and the problem persists.
