DF Adventure Mode Discussion / can you join a raid of a retired fortress?

i abandoned a fort with about 150 dorfs. every one got a archer set, then i send them to conquer my elf neighbors and then retired the fort. my idea was to start a war, just for fun. now today i thought, can i view/join in adventure mode this fight? my knowlege about DF is quite casual. some one told me, sieges get some how "freezed" in adventure.

if you like spiritual theories, this video is maybe somthing for you. most "stuff" in the world dont explain the reasons for a personal behavior. this video has a solid approach, almost like algebra for the root source of suffering.

be aware, there is a shitload of wrong information about that specific topic. in the first 30 minutes it will explain all the grotesque portrayals of it. so when you try to research it more deeper, try to double check sources. basicly all stuff/media/teachings which tries to split up things into two major factions (good/bad) are totally wrong and not harmonizing the metaphysical forces. dissension based stuff/media/teachings is like "nuclear fission" in your soul.

DF Gameplay Questions / unplayable performance drop from v0.34 to v0.40

hello, i have several notebooks, even a netbook where 0.34 was all over playable.
since 0.40 i cant play it on those notebooks anymore. one system specs are pentium dual-core cpu, t4300@2.10ghz,2.10ghz; 4gb ram. now with masterwork i can work around some how, but i disable quite a lot things like weather and use very very small isle.
any info about this? will this be fixed?

Hello!

So since i am a bit into the game, i think of embarking on a horrible place. any advice for start? I think i would take a door and a floorhatch. maybe only good militairy dorfs. pigs and dogs, ... ye thats pretty much it for now XD

Hello,

could i simply keep all my animals in cages so they wont get killed at siege?
i wonder which penalty (if any) you have if you just keep them caged.
