Utharinir, "The First Decline", a amethyst armor stand
This is a amethyst armor stand.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is encrusted with pear cut turquoises and encircled with bands of baguette cut sards.  This object menaces with spikes of amethyst.

Holy crap

Well it's not just a Windows thing. I run Windows 10, but on an old computer, and the graphics card doesn't support DX11.
My new computer (coming this week) will support everything under the sun though.

Ask and you shall receive.

I'm assuming those are tails...

Here you go.

Wow, that's a nice Minecraft map you have there.

But seriously, proper clipping put in and I'd seriously consider writing in "Japa" on my ballot.

The distribution looks like it is pulling from the game info.
Random.

That's just how good Japa is at his work.

*edit: Japan -> Japa, damn autocorrect

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how well a higher-end PC runs DF? Mine has trouble generating worlds any bigger than Pocket, particularly if there are large numbers of civs/beasts.

I have a 6 year old laptop (high-end when I bought it) with an Intel i5 and 8GB RAM and it takes a few hours to generate really large worlds (length of history is the biggest factor though). Pocket worlds can be generated in a couple minutes for me.

Yeah, I look forward to that! Will be really cool to flesh out the artifact pages.
I am especially excited about the whole myth generator stuff. It will open lots and lots of new content to discover in legends mode.

I don't think I can play the myth release until LV can properly read it. There's just so much going on in the game world already behind the scenes that we never see in-game, with the myth release I imagine it will be even more.

Glad this is still being worked on. Looks like when the artifact release comes out, there's gonna be a lot more work to do!

Forests!

What's the difference between the sticks and the blobs? Are the blobs trees and the sticks dead trees?

This is so cool! Do you pull the sitemap from the game's memory and use that to generate the structures?

It's beautiful! The magenta walls mean it's a goblin settlement, right?
Looks like it's a human settlement but he colored the walls magenta for some reason.

That's ugly as hell, but extremely interesting.

Which can describe pretty much any aspect of Dwarf Fortress, really.

The destruction of the previous thread gave me a thought.

Especially now with myth stuff upcoming, and their being able to affect terrain, what about worldgen disasters? Mundane stuff, maybe, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, or more interestingly, meteor strikes. And for high-magic worlds, magical disasters, like an evil mage wipes out a region and turns it to desert, or the moon crashes into the planet, or a god/demon does something disastrous (great floods, smiting a city, fiery apocalypse). Something that would have major effects, at least in a part of the game world.

In a similar vein, magical artifacts will be created, but what about magical landforms made during worldgen? I know about the cosmic eggshell thing, and you mentioned that the HFS will be more abstracted, but what about something like a holy pantheon on top of a mountain, or magical creatures/gods who have a home in the sky, for example?

Suddenly all this is moving very quickly. I hope to see something functional soon; a picture of a dwarf is worth a thousand words (almost literally, in DF's case).

By carefully moving around the embark screen.

I didn't know the embark screen loaded higher detail levels. I'm still wondering if it's possible to automate loading a detailed map of the entire world (via DFHack I imagine) to get some really nice map output. Would be great for Armok Vision and my project as well.
